Kenshin you probably played Arena for a day and then got whored/sniped/whatever and then you say it sucks just because you died.

sigh... I started playing it like a year ago... played it for about 4 months... mainly because duel servers were lacking at the time..got sick of tribes... and left it alone.. came back and the whoring was worse than ever... it was filled with noobs... who ran around with shield and chain/g launcher and either spamming or whoring.. Almost every arena player ive ran into polates... it's sad.

I still play when the duel servers are empty... and ive always enjoyed killing arena players.. they always seem to have the biggest egos... it's great.

How do you whore with a grenade launcher? Unless you mean you were spammed, but you should never be stupid enough to put yourself in a position susceptible to grenade spam. That's your fault.

Anyway, what is skill? I choose to think of skill in terms of this: If a newbie has a large chance of killing a player of four years, then that mod requires very little skill. If a newbie has no chance of killing a player of four years, then that mod requires a lot of skill. When I play Annihilation, Shifter, HaVoC, what have you... I totally own. I played base for four years, and with no prior experience was able to blast everybody with whatever random weapons I picked. However, if those people were to come to base, they would be little more than stray newbies walking around the map. Just because a mod has more weapons does not mean it needs more skill. Skill depends on the power of those weapons, not the amount.

tell me o wise one... how do u stay away from spam... u gotta land sometime.. and when u do the guy in the shield is gonna toss 3-5 nades at you... unless you're just running away(which is pointless) theres not much u can do... if u get close enough so that nades are harder to use... the shielder will just bring out his chain gun..

also... when you're fighting against 4 people(which is all too common in arena)... it's a bit harder to dodge ...

That's not spam, then. That's like calling simple shooting of discs spam. According to you, it's impossible not to spam or whore. Either they shoot at you in the air, which is whoring, or they shoot at you when you're on the ground, which is spam.

what do u consider spam.. then? 0_O... *sigh* ctf players... how much arena have u actually played? oh... and I would never consider any type of disc shooting... spam.. tossing a bunch of nades at someone... is and has always been considered spam... atleast in base duel... *shrug*

yes.. if they constantly use chain gun while im in the air... of course it's whoring.. wtf? what do u think the definition of whoring is 0_O

Spam is sitting and firing an explosive weapon at one place, usually a door or an exit of some kind. That is the only defintion of spam. Just because you're too slow to get out of the way of incoming grenades doesn't make it spam, nor does it mean that Arena sucks.

hmmm im willing to bet theres quite a few players willing to disagree with u ...

Arena sucks for many reasons... the biggest is the fact that almost every single player polates... and relies to heavily on chain...

u never answered.... how much arena have u actually played

Actually if you looked around you would see most people dont interpolate.
It's just a matter of your aim with a chaingun. Some people practice chain day and night, it's just what flows in their system. Some people use other random guns like the disc launcher, laser rifle,plasma... Chaingun is a gun, if they knew people would complain about the usage and abuse of using this gun they would not have added it to the game. Thats just like taking away the disc launcher and saying "Here, use an ELF gun!".

I also agree probably 100% with silv on that one. Razore, you have NO right to be posting here because you must never have read the past posts on what IM posting about. And probably half of your posts arent contributing to the forum either.

Dude i dunno what your on but its almost impossible to tell if someones interpolating. The only real way to tell is by watching thier demo. IMO its worse than happy mod, flag finder and shiva put together. The only thing that kept cg from being even more over powered than it already is, is the fact it got alot of NR's.

Did you read my post at all? I wasn't owned in Annihilation, even though I had no idea what the weapons were. I kicked everyone's ass, and I'm a sub-par base player. It's not "apples and oranges", since I was able to go into their own element and destroy them.

That's like saying you need just as much skill to play Halo in easy mode as you do in legendary mode. Apples and oranges, right? Wrong. The easy mode player goes to legendary and gets owned, while the legendary player go to easy and own everybody else.

Proven fact: It takes more skill to play base effectivly.

Has nothing to do with what mod is better.

Any efficient base player could easily take any mod player at their own mod.  Because the base player will use skills mentally you would never see used in a mod.

Most people that have been around and played enuff usualy agree that on average the best tribes players are base players. The only "good" mod players i met were ones that regularly practiced on base pubs. Probbly because like 90% of the mod playing community dont know anything bout competition and are all point mongers  :P (if you havent realized, points dont matter on CTF)

It kind of depends.  I knew a lot of the good team players in ren classic and ren4.0, 3.0, earlier, and they were team players.  Many of the really good ren players didn't play base any more because they were focused on ren.  I wouldn't say that taking some one from a mod and putting them in to a base server would make them owned.  It seems to me to depend most on the player themself and how they play the game.

As for point mongers... that is true of some pub games, but the teams I was on or played against didn't monger points, and a lot of the non-ultra ren servers left are still full of suicide spawn players.  If anything, I would say that the point mongering is a pub game thing of ultra-ren, shifter, and some of the old regular ren servers that are now gone.  Most of the good ren players are or became suicide addict spawn players then moved to T2.  I think it depends on the individual player, not the mod.

Uh..  annihilation isn't a very hard mod to pick up.  ESPECIALLY if you play base--there are like 9 one hit kill weapons in annihilation, and 1 of them is as fast and accurate as the laser rifle in base.  That's why no one could beat me in annihilation, even on my first day..
