Linux should be your top choice for operating systems....... if you run a server. And are serious about it.

It won't be able to really compete as an end user desktop environment until more software developers start writing versions of games/apps for it. I was dual-booting with Slackware Linux and Windows 98SE for awhile, but it wasn't worth the multiple gigs the install took up because I couldn't run any of my stuff. lol

Nubs just say Linux is good because they see hackers using it, and they make it look all cool. But it sucks sweaty balls.

I installed 2kPro on my older laptop.  Its pretty good, but the low-res/low color icons, like My Computer, etc, get on your nerves after you have used XP for so long.

Blink - Actually, no.  Linux is cool if you have a Linux version of every piece of software you need to run, and know what you're doing. I think OpenOffice is the *nix alternative to MS Office on Windows, and there's clones for most major IM programs, also great graphics editing tools. And don't think of Linux as a boring command line interface - if you can get KDE or Gnome working properly, the beauty of the desktop themes rivals that of XP.  It's just the games that suck. I wish there was a Tribes client/server for Linux :P
