A&M is a good place man. Have fun! Here are some tips:
Call any enlisted man who is a higher rank by their rank, then their name (provided they want you to even say their name... last name) NEVER CALL THEM SIR! ! ! That's grounds for 10 reps a pavement kissing.
Officers are Sir, Ma'am.
Civilians are Mr. Ms. Mrs.
Volunteer for stuff, but don't volunteer unless it comes down to nobody volunteering (if you volunteer right off the bat every time, your platoon or squad may think you're a kiss-ass and hate you a little bit.) If you volunteer after everyone has been yelled at or after the one in charge has started "volunteering people with pointing" that's a better time to volunteer.
Don't take every thing personally. View it as a training and you should be allright. Don't fight with other soldiers. Even if you are all doing the wrong thing and every one is against you, don't tell them they're wrong unless you have Rang over them. If you don't have rank over them, then don't argue -- you will all be punished and the right way may be shown, or tried for again.
Even if your papers say you are an E2, E3, or E4 (if you have a BA allready you can be an E4) when you are in Basic, you actually just an E1 still. Don't try to use this as a rank over any one unless you want a pissed of Drill Instructor.
When they say don't talk, DON'T talk, no matter what the rest of them are doing.
Of course, this is all more post enlistment information... but if you seem to fit in well in ROTC you'll fit even better in the regular army (as you will know better what to do than the green recruits.)
Peace and good luck! :-)
//PS... make sure you do a job that is worth doing once you enlist [if you do enlist]! ie; demolition engineer. ;-)
