FFX Cactaur Help

Ok, I decided I'd start playing FFX again, and beat all the mini-games/quests this time.
Doing pretty well up until this Gatekeeper crap of finding 10(2 together) Cactaurs around the desert area. So far I'm stuck on the 9th one. The one on the Airship.
I looked through a guide and found...

9th - Elio - Teleport to the airship using the Save Sphere at the Oasis; he's on the outside deck

And a few variations of the same thing.

Ok I get the 8th one, the one in the sand whirlpool. Save. Go back to the Oasis, watch the lil'green porcupine beam up into the Airship from the Save Sphere. Stare at the nice picture of the Airship. Then I use the Save Sphere to Board Airship. Run through it, to the deck. The only thing out there is Yuna. (If I talk to her I start the sequence to fight Sin.)

Any help here? I've done this twice so far. (Which takes quite awhile to gather all of them.)

You need to fight Sin before Elio will appear. You're unlucky enough to be in the only portion of plot in which you cannot find Elio on the deck.

Once you are inside sin, You can teleport back out when you get to a save sphere.

Just incase you didn't know.
