Server Resets
« on: November 8, 2002 04:15 pm CST »
Why does the server on the new IP reset/crash so often?  In fact, why does the server reset/crash at all anyway?

Dynamix poorly coded Tribes in the first place.  The fact that they're working on the router where the server is hosted from doesn't help.  Just bare with me folks, the server is going to be upgraded to a 1.4GHz P3 (maybe even a 2.4GHz P4) with 1GB of RAM before long.  Things will get better.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

If you want any donations via paypal/snailmail, just ask.

Actually, PCGAMER praised Tribes for its Terrific netcoding, allowing even those w/ 56k to have barely any lag.  Hell, i could own even when I was on AOL (boo!)

Tribes netcode was one the greatest multiplayer netcodes ever made, aside half-life.  It's just Tribes crashes a lot  :-/

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

I know what we can do! Send nude photos of Pecker to Dynamix team in exchange that they fix tribes crash problems.  But I think we'll need full cooperation from Pecker for this to become a reality (unless some of you are pros at stalking lol).  :D :D :D :P

If I fixed some of the three jillion syntax errors left in the code, it might be more stable.

Syntax is the format of the code.  If it's missing a ";" at the end of the line for example, it's a syntax error.  A lot of the time it still works, but it's not a good thing to leave the code broken.
