Those of you possessing car stereos with more than 1 watt of power, have some fun.

"Crackdown on Loud Car Stereos Proposed by Giannini

Rep. Giannini has submitted legislation after deciding that noise levels coming from some car stereo systems have reached crisis proportions in the state especially in Providence.

"The outrageously loud noise pollution is destroying the quality of life in our neighborhoods," said Rep. Giannini. "The music coming from some of these cars is so loud I can feel my house shake when they drive by. Providence is a wonderful, beautiful place to live, but residents are being annoyed and disturbed by noise pollution over which we have not control."

The bill would add a provision to the current law, which would target excessively loud stereo systems. Any overpowered car stereo system which "annoys and disturbs" persons outside the motor vehicle and can be heard in homes and businesses within 25 feet would be declared a public nuisance and a health hazard.

The "nuisance vehicles" would be towed to a repair shop, where the offending would system would be removed. In addition, businesses would not be able to sell car stereo systems that exceed more than 86 decibels. The bill would also regulate the systems and would create a legislative commission who would study vehicle sound system noise pollution. "

Most systems reach this with 1 watt.

I agree with having dual 12" subs in the back being a bit too much, but there isn't a damn person who is going to tell me my 220 sony xplods are too much.

You can't even get a decent sound unless you have power behind it. I don't mean power=volume either. Yeah, I crank it sometimes. Its good music. Not like I am advertising gang signs all the way through town.

Hell.. If they are going to do that, they should first think of a way to make cars more quiet.

BTW.. I didn't even click on the link.. AOL scares me

But then again, it is rude to cruise through neighborhoods with it turned up.  Its fine anywhere else, especially at intersections, in my opinion.
