Tribes 1 & 2 for free on May 4th

Just letting ya know, Vivendi is releasing both games for free on May 4th. You can get them at fileplanet at that date.

Abandonware.   Just like System Shock 2 (a very fine game, if you havent tried it).

I had the PCGamer demo CD with...oh wait nm that was Creature Shock  :?
I hope T:V doesnt become Abandonware...it acctually looks decent with a story and everything.

Uhh.  Abandonware is where the company goes down, so people can basicly download the game for free legally.

T:V will definately be sold at first, since I'm sure the company will be alive by the time it hits stores.  If the company ends up going down, then it would become abandonware.  But, by the look of quality that the game has, I'm sure it wont.

It's not really abandonware, since Vivendi owns all rights to the games and is alive and kicking. It's more of a PR move to get the common gamer thinking "hey these guys are cool" as much as it is a marketing move to popularize the Tribes series before releasing T:V.

Its funny because the majority of the people that play Tribes now never payed for it.

Why do you think Tribes has so many more players than T2?

T2 is a good game..but i think that T1 is just better w/ gameplay and modibility...even tho T2 has HELLA more effects to use

Because tribes 2 actually had a form of piracy protection (online accounts)
