Bit Torrent: Horribly coded? Or is there a fix?
« on: April 24, 2004 12:00 pm CDT »
Bit torrent is the worst piece of malarkey I have ever come across. It eats almost every single bit of your bandwidth for 2 kbs. 2 questions:

1) Is there a fix?
2) Is the upload the one slowing the download?

Thanks.

Bit torrent is the best thing that ever happened to downloads.

You don't need a fix, it works just fine.

You download with your upload, so speeds are slower.

Leeches hate BitTorrent because it always forces you to upload at your maximum capacity, and it's difficult to change that. I don't mind it because I can upload at an impressive speed (for low-end consumer DSL, anyway) of 61 kB/s and I have no monthly upload cap...

Sharing is caring =p

If your trying to download Knights Online dont bother. That malarkey takes so long. Just leave your computer on over night.

Yes it does seem like Bit Torrent has a few problems at times.  Uploading at 25-35kb/s while downloading only at 5-10kbps bugs me.

Sometimes I think it really depends on the way you are connected to the internet.  I will be downloading at 10-20kb/s normally on my DSL connection, then go over to my friend and hes downloading 100+kb/s on his cable connection.
