Free Tribes Release Ruining My Bandwidth

I've had a sharp increase in the traffic for Tribes RPG 5.005, and I can't really come up with any reason except that Tribes has been released for free and people are wanting mods for it.  Anyway, I've already moved >6500MB this month, so I might have to cut the download off if this rate keeps up.

The increase started on 5/4/04, the day FilePlanet released Tribes 1.

May 1, 2004:  543MB
May 2, 2004:  443MB
May 3, 2004:  214MB
May 4, 2004:  861MB
May 5, 2004:  972MB
May 6, 2004:  1.14GB
May 7, 2004:  1.36GB
May 8, 2004:  814MB (already at 11:15 AM)

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

I can see your point there, but just about everyone who really wanted to play Tribes has probably found one way or another to get it by now.

Ended up transfering 2.42GB yesterday.  That's amazing and about 5x my normal.

I went to yahoo.com and I searched for: Tribes RPG : and I scrolled down to Number 16 and I saw this page http://http://www.pcrpg.org/main.php?action=viewpage&page=files (that is the URL for the downloads section of this website>) so i believe that could be 1 reason the downloading from this site is so high.

Back to the topic:

Indeed!  I was thinking of hosting some files on my site when it's supposed to go up (when I get approoved for a credit card... yawn) but recent utilities that scour the "net" for games downloads and mods are starting to freak me out.

I was thinking of hosting my Simpsons sound pack fro Quake... but then I thought "what if they release Quake 1 for free to promote DOOM 3 or some thing wacky like that?" Dun Dun DUn!!!

Well, I have to sit on this.  If I host TRPG files they're going to be just the nescessary client-side files, and none of the music files will have sound in them.... no scripts.vol, etc... because I could not handle downloads that horriffic.

Note:  I heard PCgamer had noted TRPG in a recent mod list in one of their articles... maybe that is influencing this as well?

I am already on it.. I got all this webspace with unlimited bandwidth, I might as well put it to good use..  Files should be up by Wed.
