My case's ambient temp probe is reading 72*F.  It is a couple inches above my hot-running 9800Pro, but it has two fans blowing on it from the outside.  The thermostat to my room is reading 76*F.  I can never tell if it is accurate tho, as this room always feels cool to me, while it is blazing hot to others.

Darwin, if you want to get your computer CPU temp down about 5* - 10*C, use a Hot air extractor, They work sooo good, my computer in ireland used to stall because it got over heated, So I bought one of the fans, and It never stalled much after that. Their only about $15 so something like that.

This is the one I use!

Is it possible to flip them over?  I plan on installing one directly over my 9800Pro (there is an extra opening right above the agp slot for such devices on my case).

I doubt it's possible, remmeber it is a PCI slot, but perhaps you could modify it, I don't want to open my case to find out lol sorry, but this thing works soo good you don't need to modify it.

I have a feeling I could remove the black plastic part from its clips and flip it over.

Don't use orb fans..

I've had 3 of those exact same fans die within 1.5 months of use in a hot case.. The fan isn't built for a performance PC. Not to mention the air flow is malarkey..

If you want an expansion slot fan, check Zalman out.. They are a bit more expensive, but they get the job done.
