res://vzsmg.dll/index.html#37049
« on: June 18, 2004 07:31 pm CDT »
Heeelp! It automatically goes to that everytime I open IE.
Ive adaware scanned, spybot scanned, virus scanned, and even went into system32 and deleted vzsmg.dll but when I re-opened IE it came back. I also exited all processes that looks suspicious, yet it still comes back. I found 2 spyware things in add/rem programs, but I cant get rid of em it says it cant find some malarkey and says that I cant uninstall.
-edit- I also changed the registry to make homepage and searchpage and all that malarkey to google, it still didnt work -edit-

I dont want to change browsers, so thats an X. Any other ideas?

You could always try deleting the files.. Lock your system up and pull the power cable from the back so it doesn't store back to your HD from memory.. You can also use a program to flush your memory after you delete it from HD.

You could also use system restore.

System Restore = Loss for me, Ive had my comp on for 8 days, and it says my last point was 8 days ago..

-edit- I restored, its gone now. -edit-

But, when I boot up it says:

Cannot find Bridge.dll

and then I click okay and it disappears

How do I go into the rundll or whatever dll file it is and remove bridge.dll from booting

Go to run and type in "msconfig" then check "Selected startup" and go to the tab where you can turn off things at start up. Then restart and voila.

It should if you did it right..

If all else fails go into your hard drive and delete programs and folders you don't recognize.

Sounds like the network bridge that XP creates when you create a home network.  Delete that bridge if you have one and see what that does.

I believe I have found the source of the problem, stemming to the free distribution of Starseige: Tribes.

A site which is offering the download of Tribes asks that you use its proprietary download software "Tukati" in order to download.  The site says "This program is not spyware."  I didn't have my wits about me and downloaded the software.  Now I also have "Cannot find Bridge.dll"  Error.  Bridge.dll was found as spyware in Ad-Aware and was removed.  There is most likely a program stemming to bridge.dll causing the error.  Ad-Aware will soon provide an update, I hope.

WTF! I used Tukati too! I got tribes in less than 6 minutes, though.
