Imagine being sniped from 250 miles away....wouldnt that be kinda hard cuz of the curvature of the earth..?

Probably not, but from the articles I've been reading, they're having one hellva time with barrel friction at this stage of development. Every shot is quite literally ripping the barrel apart. Once they nail that down , it'll just be a matter of inflight guidance. Other fun facts--Did you know they will need to divert power from the engines to bring this thing online? Having Scotty divert power to the weapons has a whole new meaning ^_^

ROFL, thats true.
Well if they can commit a magnetic field to the barrel in such a way as to make the bullet "Hover" in the center of the barrel on the way out there will be no friction at all.  The do this alreay with particle acceleration.

they also do that w/ anti-matter containment systems.......what if the gun was a particle accelerator??

If a railgun is basically a very powerful laser.....whats the ammo for?
