The creature is real, but it's made to appear larger than it really is in that picture. Simple optical illusion by photographing it in front of someone's leg in the background. The soldier that's holding it is hardly invasive on the picture, so the brain naturally compares the camel-spider with the other soldier's legs in the background.

Seriously though, the daddy long legs is the most unobtrusive spider you could hope to find. They mostly make webs in the corner, on the ceiling. I'm pretty sure they can't bite you. When food gets scarce, they will actually eat other spiders. And their behavior when threatened is hilarious... <3 daddy longlegs :P

yeah they are the most harmless spiders ever. People often think that they are the most deadly to humans but there mouths are too small to bite. That's not true.  They do have fangs but the muscles in their mouth are not very strong.
