My first car cost ~$400 (USD) and gave me a year of trouble-free daily driving to work.

15k for a vehicle is laughable...

You dont need a car that's 10,000 for a first car.  Thats rediculous, because you will most likely wreck it within a few years and you dont want to pay such high insurance.

Even though I hate them, I sincerely recommend a 90's honda accord.  They are cheap, they dont break down (seriously, a honda will run for a looong time before the owner has trouble), and they get pretty good gas milage.

Yup, I have to agree. I own a 1983 Honda Accord LX. It will never win any awards for speed or looks. But... it has never left me stranded, the powertrain is very forgiving to new and/or rough drivers, and it's a gas miser. The early Accords make a great first car, just don't keep one too long or it'll grow on you.

First off...do you even know how to drive? You should try driving a car before planning to buy one. Why the hell would you spend that much on your first car anyways? $5000 would be a reasonable price to spend.

Secondly...Mitsubishi sucks.

[edit] lol, insurance++
