I've been enjoying my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 7500+ for two years now. Good stuff.

I am enjoying my Radeon 9700 All-In-Wonder.  It beats my friend's GF5700FX in Doom 3, oddly.

I agree with particle.  The "all in wonder" is an excellent card....always has been.

Yeah, you could get an all-in-wonder 9600 for about $140.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I have had the trouble with both brands.  Usually the in-box drivers are terrible.

I reccomend downloading and using the updated drivers whenever possible.

Nvidia has a lot more features (from my experience) both in applications and card configurations.

ATI and Nvidia both outperform each other on big titles.  It mainly depends on what games you are going to play when you make a video card decision.

You could (barring money situation) assemble two computers and have one ATI and one Nvidia machine.  Install the apps/games on each that they respectively run better on!

Or... you could wager on a PCI solution... but I wouldn't.

Extasy ATI 9600XT 256mb.
I've never had any problems with it. and you can probably find one from $130-160.

The only thing I don't like about ATI is their Catalyst drivers. But the good ones do come with the cool Pipe Dream demo.

(Me and GE have the same case. =P )

He wants an AIW though.

A 9700 AIW is faster than the 9600XT, since the 9600 only has half the pipelines and a narrower ram bus.  A small OC on the 9700 (or default on 9700 pro) easily beats a 9600 clocked at XT speeds, which are like 2x as high.

Afterall, my 9700 normal would clock to 400MHz (not stabe w/o extra cooling)--12MHz shy of 9800XT clock speeds.  The XT has 1/2 the pipes and is 500MHz.
