Surprise! John Kerry Plans Clinton Style Tax Hikes
Candidate provides further evidence his plan is to impose across the board increases just like those in 1993

WASHINGTON - After campaigning for over a year on a promise to raise taxes on only the "rich, John Kerry has finally made his plans crystal clear yesterday; he wants to stick middle class Americans with a huge tax hike.

In a speech yesterday, Kerry told his audience that he plans to follow Bill Clintons model and do, the
same thing that we set out to do in 1993, and I was there and I voted for it, I know how we did it.
They did it with the largest tax increase in American history.

"President Bush fought to give American Taxpayers the relief they needed, said ATR President
Grover Norquist. John Kerry wants to turn around, destroy those cuts, and slam the
American people with a huge Clinton style tax hike.

John Kerry voted twice in 1993 for Bill Clintons tax bill, which the late Democratic Senator Daniel
Patrick Moynihan (D-NY) called the biggest tax increase in history. The legislation hit the middle class
hard, increasing the marginal tax rates for those making between $30,000 and $100,000 per year and
raising taxes on gasoline and social security. Kerry said that he is proud to have supported and voted
for (Clinton's) economic plan.

"John Kerry has repeatedly misled the American People by saying he only wants to raise taxes on
the rich, continued Norquist. Yesterdays statement demonstrates Kerry has every intention of
implementing an across-the-board tax hike that will sting the middle class and working families
nationwide.

On July 31, 2003, Kerry claimed on MSNBCs Hardball that "We Democratsbalanced the budget
without raising taxes on middle class Americans." Kerrys claim contradicts his 1993 speech on the
floor of the Senate, when he said, I wish that we did not need to raise taxes (on the middle class),
but this budget cannot be balanced without increasing taxes. Kerry apparently has a problem
with telling the truth about both his record on tax increases and his intentions to raise them in the
future.

The Flip-Flops of John Kerry
What he said then. What he says now. What happened.
By William Saletan and Avi Zenilman
Posted Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at 8:37 AM PT

Slate continues its short features on the 2004 presidential candidates. Previous series covered the candidates' biographies, buzzwords, agendas, worldviews, best moments, and worst moments. This series assesses the candidates' purported flip-flops. Here are two switches commonly attributed to John Kerryand the context his critics leave out.

Flip: In December 2002, Kerry said, "We should encourage the measurement of the real value of companies by ending the double taxation of dividends."

Flop: Throughout 2003, Kerry opposed President Bush's tax plan, which, according to Bush, would eliminate the "double taxation on dividends." In May, Kerry voted against the final plan, which cut but didn't eliminate the tax on corporate dividends.

Context: Kerry believed the tax cut would do little to stimulate the economy, considering the deficit and the war in Iraq. In regard to the dividend tax and his position switch, he said, "I don't support [eliminating the dividend tax] now under any circumstances at this moment. I support it in the context of tax reform overall, in which case not doubly taxing income I would think is an important principle."

Flip: In October 2002, Kerry voted for the Iraq war resolution sought by Bush. Kerry voted against an alternative that would have authorized force only if the U.N. Security Council sanctioned it. The resolution Kerry supported stated, "The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to  defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq."

Flop: Soon after voting for the resolution, Kerry expressed dismay over the march to war. He said he wouldn't "support the president to proceed unilaterally" and consistently criticized administration policy leading up to the invasion.

Context: Kerry often said Iraq was a looming threat that had to be dealt with. He believed an invasion, done properly, would be sound policy. He insisted that Bush should "exhaust all possible remedies" to avert unilateral war, but he also said, "American security must never be ceded to any institution or to another institution's decision." That was why he voted against the alternative Iraq resolution. In the days leading up to the war, Kerry was unclear as to whether he would support an invasion without a U.N. Security Council resolution.

I got about 15 more of these some even more prevelant! If you want to see them I will post em!

5) G@y Marriage Amendment

That right there is the single most reason I am not voting for bush and think he is an arogant asshole.

The Constitution and our Country was based and founded on Christian Values! With that being said you have every right to not have the same religion--Its in the constitution! But the constitution clearly states that Marriage is between a man and a woman! Thats all George Bush is saying here. He is not opposed to giving gays Civil liberties. These liberties give them much of the same benifits as marriage.
You have your opinions on this matter as do I. But your opinion did not deem me to call you an arogant asshole nor should mine deem you to call me the same. George Bush is following the opinions of the Majority of the United States as well as himself.(there have been numorous polls to back his decisions) So to deem the president as an Arogant Asshole is very disrespectful to say the least. No one is forcing anyone to live in this country unlike some other countries.
You may not like the President but you should show respect for him! You are not the one in the white House making tough decisions that will make one side or the other angry!

Its the meaning of the word Marriage. Its a bond between a Man and a Woman. I htink its fine they have thier own "civil unions". They hsouldnt get the same benifts as a MARRIED couple should. Its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
