seriously, you guys are gonna be future ricers.... who cares if your case is really flashy and cool looking, as long as it's fast and it works is all it matters.

i mean instead of buying all those flashy computer stuff, i'd rather go for the computer upgrade and get like a 50 dollar case

Here is the case Im getting
ASPIRE X-Superalien

You can look at more details here http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 004&depa=0

This thing has 6 fans. 1 on the 2 in the back 2 in the front and 1 on the side window.

It also has a 500W PS w/ 8 molex connectors i belive.

I have that case(except the power supply in mine is transparent), its waiting for a AMD 3200+
The motherboard for it came today. (Abit NF7-S)
Hopefully it'll last a couple years.

So far the case seems great. It is a little bright, but its pretty quiet for how many fans it has. I ran it with a 2700+ with a factory heatsink/fan at 47*C. All in all I think its a good case. (Btw I got the blue one.)

nesso, if you can spare the cash, its nice to have a fancy case to show it off.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Just so you know, my case was $50.

Some people would like to have something cool looking in their rooms.

Plus, my case speaks "I AM A POWERFUL COMPUTER" to anyone who sees it.
And people who see it... pay me to build them computers afterward :)

Yeah... I really don't get the whole casemod thing.  I don't mind if people do it, and I generally don't participate in those discussions because it's their interest, not mine, but if it is a case mod that ads performance then I am happy with it.

ie;  I want to mod my case.  Not some thing with lights (the cheapest CaseFan I could find had led's in them I don't want/need) but some thing with a custom air flow, some sort of custom intake/outtake system, and maybe a sound dampening system in place.

Why haven't I done it?  I think it's kind of expensive!
:-p

upgrades to computers make me think of upgrades to cars...

"better processor for faster computer"
"better engine for faster car"

"flashy case looks like a powerful computer
"flashy car looks like a powerful car (rarely nowadays...)"

EDIT: yay i found the image that says all for me!
must be a very powerful computer

In an effort to become a conformist, I mounted all of my hard drives actually inside my case.  I'm out of bays though after 9 hard drives and 2 custom hard drive bays (added 6 bays).

My computer is a mess, but it's pretty with all of those drives =)

I took a 1997 gateway 2000 case, sanded it down and painted it a nice glossy black and rebuilt a brand new system inside it.  Its very pretty.  The only flashy thing about it is in the back where there is an LED fan exausting the hot air.  I might put a cold air intake on the side or top, but it will be difficult because the case requires i cut through two different materials (plastic and metal) in order to make a hole.  It would be a tough project for a mod newbie, but, with dremel and hand, theres a way.

*edit*
Particle, why not pick up a case of the same flavor as the one you have.
Push the two together and have adhere to each other by either glue or welding.  Use the holes on the backplate of your case to run the cables through them, and cut holes through the side of the other case matching those of the backplate.  You would need to cut out the backplate on the second case in order to access the drives when you needed to.

You can then fit all your hard drives in that case and run the cables from that case to your main case.  That can leave room for an internal Peltier cooling mod and/or any other cool cooling mod you'd like to try.
