I recently bid on a new MP3 player to replace my decrepit old POS CD player. Granted, it wasn't a bad unit, but it is broken beyond repair (old age). I looked at a Rio300 back in the day when it was hot. My CD player was still working back then, though.
I purched a unit labeled as "near-mint" by the seller off of eBay. With a max bid of $55 already installed, I noticed in micro-print it said "Unit powers on, but if you press any buttons it shuts off." Thinking other people would miss the text that I did, I was prepared for the worst. $50 for a paper weight.
Turns out it went for only $20.50. This is a near-mint unit, only it doesn't work right. The Rio S50 retails for $100-200.
After looking for a cure, it turns out it takes a slip of paper/etc and about 10 minutes to fix. Instant brand-new $150 MP3 player for $27.25 after shipping.
