If anyone thinks we live in a great country, you watch too much tv. Yes, there are great things about this country, this is true, and i wont deny that i am proud of these great things, however few or plentiful they are, but by no means is it a great country. This probably can be said about most places, so we can't think we're special.

In a very broad opinion, i simply feel that the reason we were ever attacked is because of the way we act, we protagonize, we go forth and try to make the world better, this is a job suited only for a God (no religious references here). I agree with a few of you, that we need to focus on what we're doing and not about what other people are doing. When are we going to send troops to Africa to help the people starving? Or are there only people starving next to oil fields? It happens, but its a weak and flimsy effort to make our intentions seem benign. America has no interest in helping other people or the american people. Yes shout that patriotism flag, help the world.... Dude, wheres my oil?

Also people who say "well lookit that country, they dont do this", you have no clue, I dont have a clue, very few of us have a clue, we are a sheltered country, run and operated by the media, we know nothing about other countries, only those who live there truly know. The root of our thoughts and beleifs are those fed to us by the media. There is no freedom in this our country. And this is the problem. Sure, you're free to buy what the media tells you, you're free to choose how you dress according to magazines, you're free to be a unique persecuted individual. You're free to do anything you want, if your willing to jump right into the corporate machine of america and give your life to making the money to do what you want.

Its a vicious circle masked by the media. If what im saying isnt quite clear, its summed up perfectly here :
http://www.gethappy.com/watchmore.html
That short film epitomizes the culmination on my thoughts about my life as an american, lead by the american dream, money, and nothing more.

I speak for myself, and probably many other people here, but there are ways other than the media to get our information..  it gives us a different perspective, but merely only that..  we still can only be informed by other people's perspective.  Still..  people are free to ignore the media and use other methods of being accurately informed, although I'm sure only a few people here actually do it.

the only form of information the general public has about other contries is the media.  Most people are too ignorant to think that maybe the media is not right.

but really how could you know if your arent there? I mean, who really knows the real story behind 9/11, i dont think any one person knows the entire story.

Some way or another we get our information from the media.

Who really knows? The media is a convenience; Would we prefer to trust what we hear, then to go find out for ourselves, even if that were possible? I honestly don't think its possible for anyone to really get a real truth on anything. At the core of it, when you track down every bit of information, it all ends some where with someones opinion. This isnt to say there aren't facts to every story, but there is no such thing is a 100% factual story.

And koro, do you think all this war and death is a way to get far in the world? By killing each other off slowly? I dont think so.

I never said that  :(

I kinda agree with UG...USA is sticking its nose everywhere. Unfortunately, if every country were to just break off and be isolated to fend for themselves, we as a planet wouldn't get very far in the end. There's a difference, however, between cooperation and intrusion...I think we've intruded.

you said that if we isolated ourselves as countries we would not get very far.

and I said that the way we are doing it now is just as bad. we are slowly destorying our world on coutry at a time. I had the fortune to live in Los Alamos new mexico, where they developed the nuclear bombs.  I moved there about a week after 9/11 happend. The only reason I even got into the town was because my roomates father worked at the lab. The town was on the highest security.  While i was there I went to the museum and watch moves about ippenheimer. (the scientist who developed the technology)  The moves were very moving and gave me a new outlook on the way our contry runs things. It was a very irie place  to live.

Agreed..  and even when multiple people see something, their stories are usually always very different.  It just goes to show that people see things too differently.  Besides.. the information we get from the media goes through so many people that there is no way we could get the truth.  For the important matters, it goes from the government to a media member, which then goes to many other players in the media industry, and then to us..  it's sad that so many people fall for all the lies.

a friend of mine brought up a good point in opposition to my view, we choose to accept what the media tells us and thats a freedom all its own, however i just feel, whats the other choice?

If we want to choose to know the truth about something? can we? is that an option? Can we choose how we want to be? Yeah, but if you do it wrong your persectued, theres always a 'right way', and thats governed by the media.

if you're ever in new mexico and want to own a peice of history visit 'the black hole' in los alamos. it's owned by a former scientist on the manhattan project. probably the most brilliantly insane man ive ever met.

watch the clip. I was in his store a few days after they had put the video together and he actually made me sit down and watch it with him. it was amazing.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and I will leave it at that. I draw my conclusion from things other than the media-I read books do internet searches and talk to people. I realise that my beliefs are completely off from most of the rest of you and that is fine. I guess I will leave it at that and go on. I can appreciate all of your opinions as well even if I may not agree with them. Does this make us bad people because we don't see eye to eye, No. It just makes us people!

Well, is that so unexpected?  Most everyone tends to be biased against or for at least something.

Ozzy I respect your opinion. But I don't have to agree with your opion. If that makes me bias then I guess that makes you bias as well. Just because i don't run with the crowd that thinks everything that happens in this world is a conspiracy doesn't make me a bad person.

On a side note Ozzy I do agree with you in the fact that Russia is in a  civil war. But on that note if you read a little deeper into the story there were Radical Middle East terrorist aiding in this campaign. There are Al Queda cells all over the world helping others to promote terrorism to those willing to take their help. So this is a world wide problem.

But as I said before we all have the right to our own opinions. So rather than argue about all this we just all need to go to the polls and vote. Then keep our fingers crossed that we are all safe!

You people need to go to church.  Or at least turn on the Christian channel every once in awhile.  Do you know how many missionaries are currently in other countries battling famine and hunger?  Where do these missionaries come from I wonder.....what country currently has relief workers in Sudan?  We cant save the whole world, but there are people out there trying to make a difference, so dont shoot off at the mouth about Amerika's interests being all about Oil.  I dont see those missionaries coming home with oil barrels strapped to their backs and rolling in money.  They come home like wounded soldiers....most just long enough to dress their wounds, then they are back to the war.  Those people are out there making a difference in a not-so-great world and you as Amerikans should respect them enough not to condemn our country so easily.  Thank you.

I don't think you understood my point.

You are from Texas, you are for going and attacking every little threat that could ever come across the world reguardless if we starve and go into a civil war ourselves. And you support the people who think the exact same thing without question. That is bias.

Sure I may perfer the jackasses over the elephants, but that doesn't mean I won't question either of their motives and vote either way.

Yeah, what I said may have been a bit harsh, but I am royally sick of people unsavory womaning about problems in other countries. I am sick of Americans saying that this is the perfect country and we have no problems within.

Of course history only repeats itself. The problem though is that history may repeat, but technology only grows.
