firefox > IE
« on: September 5, 2004 01:45 am CDT »
I was using plain old mozilla until I found firefox. Firefox is more browser oriented than mozilla is. I could tell the minute it installed that I was going to love it. I mean google search was built right into the tool bar! It asked me if I wanted to transfer all my bookmarks, password settings, personal toolbar links over, which was way conveniente.   Next I found all these really great skins. Big plus. I noticed that they made foxfire look alot smoother than mozilla, which is great.  They also have tons of really awesome plugins. Like a complete japanese dictionary! haha.  I got the ones like winamp built into your browser, gmail inbox, livejournal update etc.  My one and ONLY problem with mozilla firefox is that it does not support CSS very well. It supports some CSS but not all. Hence the plug in to view pages in IE.  That's the only reason I use IE. If they just worked on getting CSS fully integrated then it would be the dream browser.  The thing I like the most is tab browsing.  Anyways. I suggest you try it out if you havnt already. It's really awesome.

You forgot the extention that lets you change your browser header on-the-fly, heheh :)

You probably already know, but if you don't, go to about:config in the address bar to see more preferences than you'd ever need *L*

firefox is in no way slow.  and is just as simple as IE. but with tons more features. firefox can do some things that IE can only dream about.

they need to hurry up and fix the damn css tho...

Iv'e been using firefox since the week it came out..  it's so much better than IE that it isn't even comparable anymore.  There are like 2 minor problems with compatibility (css being one, which Aphex mentioned), but the way firefox is set up is 5000x better than IE.  All those compatibility problems will be fixed with simple plugins, anyways.

I love firefox now.  My family has no clue on how to avoid spyware/adware, and firefox makes it much easier for them to avoid spyware (since it doesnt pop up those WOULDYOUPLEASEDOWNLOADMETOCONTINUE... boxes).
