I have no idea what I am doing, will you help me?
« on: September 21, 2004 08:55 pm CDT »
(The Assistance forum is locked so I now seek assistance here.  I also searched throught these forums for a solution, but I could not find one.)

My problem:

Everytime I try to get into a server I get that, "unable to model, rpgmalehuman.dts" thing.  I have the repacked 5.005 version, I even tried the 4.987 to 5.005 update just incase it might change something.  I am using Windows 2000 with packet 4, and I am wondering if there are any special programs that I might need for the model to work, like Paintshop Pro or something else that I might not have.

I have also noticed that the skins from the repack 5.005 are in bitmap on my system, and when I try to view them they are in black and white, even the maps and equipment.

I thank you in advance for any assistance you might offer.   Thank you for your time and effort.

No, having TRIBES and all the rpg files is enough to make it work.

(The bitmaps are pbmp's or something, you would need a converter to view them properly, but there should be no need to view them unless your making skins.)

After you install TribesRpg, right click on the Tribes.exe and click
Create Shortcut.

Right click the properties of the new shortcut and find the target line.
type in ' -mod rpg ' at the end of it, with no quotes.

So the whole thing should read...
Target: "C:\Dynamix\TRIBES\Tribes.exe" -mod Rpg

Now rename the shortcut to TribesRPG to keep it easier to find.
And whenever  you want to play a Trpg server use that to start tribes.
(You can use it to join other servers, non trpg, as well.)

If you have a corrupt file, every individual one is available for download

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I changed the Tribes.exe line and it still does not work.

When I download one of the singlular files from the mod it registars as if it were a different file from the copy on the repacked version.(They have no open with ready to go.)  Why are they different?

When I try to download a SFV file it says something like this, and then it will not allow me to download it.  Is that a problem?

Fresh install of TRIBES and the RPG mod. (I know the download for the mod should be good, I've used it myself.)

Then make the shortcut and have its properties look like this.
(I know you said you tried it, but expierence shows its the main cause of trpg problems.)

I had that same problem. I just copied all the trpg files, but one copy of each file in every folder, and the problem went away.

Yea, it's messy, and yea, it takes up alot of unneccesary space, but it works.

I don't know. I just made copies of all the files and kept adding them to different folders until it worked. I haven't even looked in that folder for almost a year.

Perhaps you could go to each folder and print screen them on to bmp files or something.  That would probobly be the easiest way, becuase randomly moving files would take way too long, and I would have no idea where to begin.

I thank you for your assistance, it is good to find someone that has worked through a like problem, if not the same problem.

It isn't that difficult to install man...

You install Tribes... Install the 1.0-1.11 patch..

Install the TRPG 4.something RAR extraxtor...

You install the patch from that version to a NEWER version.

Then you install the patch from the newer version to the newest version.

I would give you version numbers, but I am at work and unable to telnet into my Gentoo box to give them to you.

No, you install 1.8 full then install 1.8 to 1.11 for the normal game then you install repack 5.005 for the  rpg mod(That is the easiest way, but it does not seem to work for my system if that is all one is to do.  Perhaps I should try the long way with the RPG mod.)

I got it to work by installing it the long way around, the repack did not work for me I guess.

Yes, Starsiege Tribes is just about played out, that is why they made it freeware.
