I hope it doesn't pass. I know the governator is turing around things in california. I think in order to lead our country a person should atleast be born here.. thier isnt very many restrictions to run for president so I think they hsould atleast meet the few standards in order to become president.
Good point, but think about this: To be president, you have to be at least 35 years old (not too big of a deal). You have to have been living within the country for at least the last 15 years (no studying abroad). The one major, and when I say major I mean it, hurdle is gaining enough support. Nader has tried the approach of personal fortune and a well-recognized name, but he has never hit the 5% votes needed to be given government-backed funding for his future campaigns (if he has anymore, look how old he is). Essentially to be president, you have to be either left or right, blue or red, a supporter of communism or of dictators (for the radicals). Just gaining enough recognition within either party to be considered for the primaries as a potential candidate is hard enough. I think letting people not necessarily born in the US run for president wouldn't be a bad idea... Would anyone here oppose Nelson Mandela as president based on his lack of compassion and sheer stupidity that arises from his nationality? (sarcasm for the mental midgets)
