Just wondering if it was possible to change the port that a certain program uses to access the internet with? I want to play WoW but can't because the port is restricted, so I get really crappy ping, and disconnected after 5 minutes of play time. Is it possible, or am I just fukked? Thanks, peace.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Perhaps you could get a second network card?  Just a guess.

My guess is you are either at work or school, and want to play your game while on their network.

In that case, you could be honest and ask the network admin, or not and hack the network.

Yep. Network administrator would be the best person to go to. They just have to set it up so that a certain port will allow traffic, and some of the newer software can even make it program specific as to what can send/recieve traffic through that port. Blah blah blah, more unimportantccomputer jargain.

do like i do at my job and force your way through....on tribes at work, I cant ping the servers, but if i manually type in "connect(ip here); then i can connect to the server.  If there is a console and command to do that, then try it.

Hey remote!

Is your school restricting ports?  That has been happening a TON lately.  I don't know how to go about bypassing it with out them knowing, though.

I reccomend you transfer to San Jose State University in California.... they have campus gaming centers there, fully upgraded, all games allowed.

Peace.

It is people like you who make this world as bad as it is. Work is work, not games.

Hey guys... perhaps the College he is at is restricting ports?

I don't think you should be forced to study when you are tired of studying, or have nothing to study.

I know some people at colleges where the ports are all restricted for gaming these days.  It's frustrating for them when they spend 45+$ for a game to find out once it's installed that they cannot play online.

That would anger me, since it's not the schools responsibility to decide what legal entertainment is acceptable when it is, after all, legal.

At a camp in Alabama (at a university), our group leader had brought a laptop, but could not find a way to connect to the internet.  In a previous trip, I had left my Linksys Powerline adaptors in my bag.  So I found the switch in the building, plugged in one brick, then plugged in the other brick in our room.  Voila, internet.  Perhaps if you can figure out a similar way to do this with Powerline, you can get yourself some unblocked ports.

I was writing in reference to remote-control and his situation, not Sinister; Sinister was not specified so I thought the comments looked to be directed at the orriginal post, as is how I interpret undirected posts (in reference to the author of the thread) in most cases.

Sorry for the confusion. :-p
