Uberclocking the video card
« on: December 16, 2004 10:47 pm CST »
Lets post some specs of our video cards here:

9800XT (bought as a 9800Pro, somehow its an XT) overclocked to: 433core/385mem   MSI stock cooler (better than ATI stock)

I'm planning on getting a zalman cooler for it (the msi cooler makes a whine).  This new product just came in: http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/vie ... 9&code=013
No reviews available yet, but I bet its a killer!

The new driver pack for my FX 5900 sent my win98se and DFI motherboard to the land of unshutdowns, compatability mode IDE controllers and disfunctional network connections.

:-(

We have decided it is because win98se is no longer supported well by new driver sets... unfortunately.

I'll just have to get a cheap version from the campus book store in January.  doh!

I have a 9700 AIW that I've clocked to near 9800XT core speed.  It blazes around 400MHz core speed (vs 270 stock).

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

That's a pretty good idea.  Maybe I should make a CPU and GPU overclock database just for the heck of it.

I got me the Zalman heatpipe cooler with fan.  Unfortunately, it doesnt overclock any higher than I had before (must be architecture limitations), but at least its completely silent!  Next I need to replace this loud 120mm exaust with a 22decible Coolermaster 120mm.
