Hosting Tribes from a Linux server
« on: January 1, 2005 10:44 pm CST »
You might want to move this to the assistance, but I wasn't sure it would get enough exposure there.

My question is:  Is it possible to run InfiniteSpawn from Linux?  If not, is there any other way to run Tribes and a mod from Linux?  Lastly, if nobody know, Particle could you tell me what Iron Maiden uses to host your server (i.e. OS, connection speed, command line prompts, etc.)?

Anyone who knows anything about this, or knows someone I could talk to, please PM me or leave a response here.

All I know that is that it is possible to run Tribes RPG from Linux. I'm pretty sure Razore's brother set up the server Minotaur Outback Steakhouse (TRPG) on Linux, might want to PM him.

It ran through Wine.  The server started, but the scripts didn't run right, the mission failed to properly load, and no clients could connect.  However, the application itself ran fine and the server could be pinged and queried.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Awesome, so I can have a server that sits there and... sits there.  I'll keep looking for stuff and check in with some other people I know.  If not, I'll take your advice and use a Windows 2k3 server.

(Oh, and is Ozzy on vacation or something?  Hasn't responded to my post in assistance.  I'm pretty sure I've used google to search and translate the first 100 results it shows for that error to no avail.  If anyone else has experience with BloodShed and might be able to tell me that error, let me know.)
