« on: June 8, 2005 05:19 pm CDT »
Does anyone here know anything about painting. Can you paint plastic with krylon fusion spray paint. I have a 660r yamaha raptor fourwheeler, its white and red but I wanta paint it black and I heard you can use krylon fusion spray paint-black to do it, anyone have any idea if this is true or not?

they make special spray paint to use on plastic. but if you just try and spray regular spray paint on it most of the time it will chip off very quickly, unless you use sandpaper on it first. But yeah just look at the home depot or walmart for the spray paint for plastic....

doh after seaching google i found that you are talking about the paint for plastic. google is the best.

The new krylon is ok but I wouldn't paint fenders. The problem with painting the plastic, is  when it is bent or flexed the paint will eventually chip off.  The fenders tend to flex a lot. The best thing to do is just go on ebay and by aftermarket plastic, or plastic someone is selling.  I know they sell it for Banshee they should have it for Raptors.

Also I forgot to add this in. If you have other people  riding your Quad I would not recomend a dark color plastic. When they flip or turn it over your plastic will turn white where ever it gets bent. If I can get time I will post you a picture of me on the Banshee.

Banshee > Raptor

Raptor > Banshee because I HATE YOU! :p Ok ok, lets say this Yamaha > Honda > Suzuki > Kawasaki ... how about that ok..  I seen it on a forum were the guy painted his plastics, ebay does have black plastic because its the limited edition style but I don't feel like spending 300$ for them when I could just paint them, if it gets scratched, I could always repaint it correct :)

Thx for feedback.

Trails and sand, I've never went to a public/legal place though. By sand I'm saying the sand at the river and by trails I mean woods lol. Ive never been to a sanddune or public trail type place like that, I'd like to go but just dont have the time to getaround to doing it, got about me and 4 of my friends who all have racing 4wheelers.  What all is done to your banshee, friends got a banshee that will lite the tires up from a 15mph roll. My raptor is stock but I raced him and he came by me when I was topped out at 80 like I was nothing, he had to be running around 110. I don't have the money right now to fix mine up its fast enough as is.

We use to ride at Sand Lake Oregon, but we moved. Our bikes are set up for sand. I have not found a place here yet that has Sand Dunes. They say there is a place in Wisconsin but I have not seen it yet. Kinda getting the bug to go ride again now that the weather here is so warm and sunny.
