man my whole house was moving. it was great. i havnt been in an earthquake in a while. if you've never been in one it kinda feels like a large explosion just took out half your town. haha.

5.2 is a pretty good size. and considering it happened about 30 minutes from my house i felt pretty much all of it.

The craziest thing about earthquakes is the way theyre measured...
Like, if u have a 5.2, then a 5.3 would be 10x worse, and a 5.4 would be 10x worse than the 5.3. You'd think something like an 8.0 would practically destroy the world.

if that earthquake was on land then indonesia would probably be completly gone. a lot more people would have been dead in all the surounding countries.

i just mentioned it because it's been a while since we've had a quake this size. and since quakes are pretty much the only natural disater in california (besides huge fires) its exciting.

if you've never been in an earthquake its a really weird feeling.

there was a tornado in my town a few months ago. and one in the town just north. nothing to really be concerned about but it took out a house or 2. the one in the town to the north did a lot more damage. tornados in southern california are pretty unheard of. the most we get is severe thunderstorms, floods, hail and snow storms. but im still waiting for the big earthquake to hit.

I think the correct measurement is that each whole number is twice as strong as the previous number.  The 1.4 or 4.7 or 9.1 is 2^(earthquake number) units of energy released.  (I doubt that is completely correct, it might be multiplied by millions to be the actual joules released.)

thats gonna be your "last wish" -ok malarkeyty joke,
but i think every richter scale unit is 32 times greater.  a 5.0 is 32 times more powerful than 4.0

it was a 5.3 up by LA.

this is the 3rd since sunday. we had a 7.0 off the coast of northern california that triggered a tsunami warning for the whole coast of california...
