[News Discussion] This Period in PCRPG, Episode 3
« on: April 2, 2006 01:45 am CST »
The following is from the news page.  As usual, I've setup a thread for this episode so I can answer questions you might have after listening.

This Period in Particle's Custom RPG, Episode 3
Yesterday I recorded another episode of the show.  I cover topics about the server, the whole who-copied-who flame war thingie, and end with some notes on PCRPG Source.

This episode was recorded with a 96KHz sampling rate, so if you don't want the downmixed 48KHz MP3, grab the Ogg Vorbis file.  It sounds better anyway, despite being smaller.  If you're interested, give it a download:

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Admin spam issue! w00!

...I don't know why you guys would think my server was gonna go down, I hadn't said anything to that effect...

Some thought that the lag was a prelude to server shutdown, because we knew that you were probably getting spammed about the lag on a daily basis via IMs and e-mail (which wasn't even your fault)... a lesser man would have just said "screw you ingrates" and stopped hosting. I know that's what I felt like doing when nappy's house of ACF started lagging through no fault of my own. We were (gladly) wrong though. :)

You said the magic words.  Uh-oh.

Just to clarify, no clear.  Also, I don't know what to think about the WTC attacks.  It would make sense either way.  As I said, I just love conspiracy theories--I'm a junkie.

I have a fun book going over some of the biggest conspiracies around, there are some pretty interesting and at least semi-convincing theories out there.

Dude I am digging the vorbis.

Just a suggestion to add to this forum.  Perhaps a stickied PCRPG source thread, where only you can comment/write, so that pcrpg forum members have a constant reminder of HL2RPG (PCRPG source) updates.

Winamp can play Vorbis by default.  You might need a plugin for WMP to do it.

My only concern about PCRPG for HL:Source is that not all of the same players will be there...itll just be a different community, not the same =\ community is half the reason people are here

you said you have people helping you with pcrpg HL. what about us still with tribes. why not let sneeky(i know you want to) make you more new zones and get rid of some old ones? if you havent noticed, no one has been playing lately except mostly gods or high remorts. lost people to other rpg's

It isn't the zones... PCRPG has remained the most popular trpg server with these same zones for a long time. I would say we are losing people due to uncontrolled assholes *coughfocus* and no interesting quests since september 2005.

Corona's absolutely right. Although new zones or new content of any type certainly doesn't hurt. Hell, I'm going to come back for a while once the rollercoaster quest can be run again.
