So long as you can learn what you need to know about programming, I say ITT tech is not bad.  Though I prefer full college to a technical school, I say that when it comes to IT fields, it mainly depends on ther person's willingness and talents to succeed, not where they gained their education from.

For instance, I have a guy who is very stubborn in my CSC classes.  He is stupid and lazy, yet believes he will finish with a CSC degree.  With time and a little more effort, yes, he could.  But that wouldnt amount to much.  The fact remains that he is stupid and lazy, has an attitude that is repelling, and, as for his hygiene, lets just say I can taste the air around him.  Despite his personal hygiene, though, I believe because of his attitude he will not succeed.

Now take some of the other guys in my class.  Through high school they studied programming languages on their own, have experiences with multiple OS's, are charming, clean, and ready to learn.  When not in class, either they are making friends or doing side projects.  Even without their education, they would do great in the IT field.  Their education in college is just enrichment to their abilities. These traits are what will make you successful.

I'm at a tech college, might move on to the university, but I'm not sure. The school has a 2 + 2 program with the university where you get your associates degree then move to the university to get the 4 year degree.

But my friend tried that, very unsuccessfully. Left the two year college with just 1 semester left to a degree. Spent two years trying to get into the classes  she needed for her degree, but she couldn't get into any of the classes she needed to take. Everything was always full when she went to register. Two years at the university and she manage to take less than a semester's worth of classes she needed. Everything else were classes she took to stay full time student. Walking class, bowling, painting, archeology...just anything to fill the credit req until she could get into the classes she needed. It was a complete waste of time and money.

Once I finish here I'll take a look at what I'd need for the 4 year degree, how crowded it is, etc. I've heard alot of the teachers around the school saying that many employers in this area actually prefer 2 year graduates because of the amount of hands on, practical, experience they have with the field they're in, compared to the university which bases alot of the learning on theory and what-not.

Dude, shut the hell up.. atleast he's going to school. Aren't you in like 10th grade anyways?

It seems like the only time you ever poke your head in these forums is to correct someone about japanese culture-- get a life. I could see you being one of those fat losers that majors in Japanese political science (considering you even make it into college).

No, English if you're going into business. And the crap half the people use on most forums doesn't qualify. English isn't a international business language, it's the international business language.

And diplomacy?  If you ignore Spanish for most of the western hemisphere, french for most of Africa, Chinese for obvious reasons, AND Russian for the remnants of the only other modern super power (not to mention all of its former satellites.) Were you to forget about all of those languages, then sure Japanese would be a decent choice if you want to become that particular sort of civil servant.

Yes, I am an art major... and most of these classes I completed at a JC but were not transferable due to this school policy of only accepting lower division GE units, not Upper... unlucky for me... since I skipped all the lower division art GE classes... and went for the Upper (fun) division.

Anyway... most people assume I am a CIS/CS major, but I couldn't be more bored in those classes.. (point of case: I am in beginning programming and haven't done my homework for 57 days because I found it so boring... it's all due May 5th!  Ohh... a coding we shall go!  [argh!])

I agree with Dirk; Tech schools are like trade schools; A good forking idea for people who can't bother with more expensive non-guarunteed and non-internshipped Universities.  I feel like nobody I know in University has a clue as to their futures due to the fact that nobody here knows a trade; they're all institutionalised!  hahaha.
