My university filters porn.

The good thing I have to say about the filter is that it isnt too restrictive.  It is only once in awhile that I run into a blocked site (since I'm not a porn hound / cat abuse freak).  And if there is a site that is blocked that I want to go to (somethingawful is blocked, since it does have porn on it) then I just pull up a web proxy that isnt filtered by the 'sense.

lol how/why would they?  They shouldn't be able to block content like that.  You're all of appriopiate age.  At my old uni we'd have guys who split bills for porn sites lol.

If you think that is bad, you might not have heard of the mandate the government put on universities in recent times.  They want to be able to filter all traffic done by students--look at any packet they want to by some time in the future.  Of course, this is an unfunded mandate so it probably won't be able to happen in the provided time frame.  Email, IM, web, etc--all monitored all the time.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

At this point, is that a serious question?

I don't think you understand, then.  At this point, I'm shocked to find anybody that's not used to our supposed rights being violated.  "It's all in the name of victory over terrorism!" they say.  Yeah.  Every time there's a war, the American people lose more rights and gain hardships.  Over time people forget what they lost, though.  For example, there wasn't an income tax until 1913.  World War I broke out in 1914. 92 years later, income tax seems like a normal thing, not a new or temporary measure.  Getting the government to drop the income tax would be as hard as establishing a new government.  It won't happen.  Every right stripped and every hardship imposed is fought for--to keep it under any means necessary.  I can't guess why it happens that way.  I just know that it does.

Just look at gas prices for pretty much the same thing. Keeps going up because we keep paying for it. Suddenly, there's a war and oil crises, so they jack the price up 'just in case..' and they see we still use it up just as much as ever, so no point to bringing it back down.

So the malarkey finally hit the fan here, too.
I'm going to look at Canada for college. Then again, oil prices are even higher there.

Oh don't forget the wire taps on suspected terrorists, excessive wait times at the borders, and restriction on media.

Oh and Koro our(Canada's) gas prices are only more expensive because our government taxes it to death(Uhm actually the Federal Gov't puts taxes on top of the Provincial tax on gas so your being taxed on paying taxes) but put it this way you get free(but slow) medicare

It's not actually free unless your job includes a medical insurance plan. If not, it costs 54$ per month (in BC). However, if your income is 28k per year or less, you can apply for various levels of MSP Assistance, which makes it "free" (or almost free).

Basicly my university has a "bubble" around it.  One which I wasnt expecting. There are filters on the net, blocked ports, very strict open dorms policies, and strict drinking guidelines (dont let me get into that).  Unfortunately, I have gotten myself so involved in the university that I don't quite feel like leaving yet.  I'll give it another semester.  If I get tired of it, I'm leaving.
