yes im not trying to start a fight im trying to find a solution to a problem.
i have been on this server since it oppened, and i have allways tried to find the best way to fix a problem for everyone.
but that cant happen without everyones help.
remember not everyones a god, but everyone wants to lvl and have fun, all im asking is that the gods help in that endevor.
you have the power to make the game fun for everyone or make it crap.
the choice is up to you, i do not have the power to force the issue nor would i if i did.

I'm all for some sort of Anti-AFK measure.  When gods AFK-train for hours (and I am guilty of this) they aren't "playing" the game at all, other than sucking up experience; Not contributing to game play, except for occupying an IP address and a space in YOUR favorite zone.  Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to check if someone's actually AFK, scripting-wise.

AFK mining at the super spike, on the other hand, hurts no one and takes nothing away from anyone else's game play.  Only problem I could see is if it got too crowded.

I actually wouldn't complain if high RL's went to mines, yolanda, etc and built their way up that way.  At least they'd be playing the game and have to be present at their keyboardss, plus they would never be at one place for very long for someone to complain.  It's not so much the super-leveling they have a problem with, as much as it is the AFK arrogance. (once again, *raises hand..guilty)

Server clears can temporarily solve this problem, untlil it becomes a problem again (sort of like the Matrix trilogy with Particle as the Architect, Corona as the Oracle, Focus as Agent Smith and Koro as Neo (lol) (oh! oh! can I be Morpheus??))

BTW Centuria and Demonzone are essential if someone wants to max to lvl 145.  They both have great prize packs at the end of kills, for making money as well.

But all in all it's just a game.  Have fun with it the way it is or try to get stuff changed....just don't take it too seriously.

HUBBA, if both you and Particle agree, I can create another zone similar to Ghettozone (to replace Demonzone).

Or just make demonzone's bots as powerful as ghettozone's bots, lol.

That would be Particle's desicion. I would be up for it.

Until someone created a script to run themselves to the zones automatically. Wouldn't be that hard to do.

At any rate, how does a high RL 'contribute' to the game by sitting in a zone with autoswing and autocast and staring at the screen? Sure..you could talk to the people..or not, if you don't like them all that much or aren't a big talker.

Even for a God, den from 30-50 takes an annoying amount of time. And during that time, the low RLs in the zone are getting 0 exp. It's better to have the gods out of the way in Ghettozone, a zone no one actually needs to level up normally, than to have them crowding up Den, Minos, and Uber.
I transport low RLs to other zones if they ask (when I start to level in Ghettozone and they're there). I even suggest and reccommend different zones they should go to for better leveling.

Regardless of what changes are made someone will find a way to take advantage of it, so they dont have to play the game but can reap the "rewards" of a higher status.

If you can write a script that allows you to AFK run from zone to zone, I'd like to see it.  At least it would look like a character playing the game instead of NPC zone hog, plus it would give others time to level in zones while you're not present.  Might as well Focus-tent the zones. (I know it wasn't just Focus, but he's who got blamed for most of it)

In the last few weeks, I've tried to stop AFKing for extended periods(bathroom breaks, cig breaks, etc, not included)  for the reason Funger origiinally brought up.  It's just not fair to the newbies.  If I'm not going to play, I log off.  I've a feeling AFK super leveling is done just because you can.  There's obviously no more interest in the game other than not falling behind the others.

Dont take anything I've said too seriously though...like I said....a game.

Ghettozone wasn't invented to "get the gods out of the way"..  it was meant to help the people who were getting frustrated with mino's lack of space and experience at 80+.  You can't fix both problems with one zone..  you can either use it to get the gods out of the way or use it to help people after mino.  If you use it to seperate the gods from the regular guys, we're back to square 1 with the mino problem.

Besides..  at the current level of the gods, im sure you can get good exp in uberzone starting at level 50..  you don't even need to use minos, so crowding from the gods there isn't a problem.

I can go to uber at lvl 45 now (RL 170) and stay there until 101, but then, I would have the same prob as the newbs if the RL 300+ started coming there the same time.  I know it's frustrating for the lower RL's in uber as well, when I'm there, but if I am there, at least I party up and share whatever exp there is.And yes, I realize there's autojoin, auto invite scripts.  Still, that's not really playing the game.  I realize, though, this is computers and automation, it's going to be a problem (or solution, depends on your point of view) no matter what steps are taken as long as extended AFKing is allowed.  Perhaps RL lvl should be taken into account in the "zone hoarding" rules.

Now with Particle points, there is a differnt type of AFKing.  Going under/off map and tenting, or merely hanging out a safe place in a protected zone, to collect PP, skewing the actual purpose of the point scheme, allowing for more than fair amount of contest entries.  Though I can't complain, since I've won something in 2 of the first 3 contest. woohoo!

There were some very high level players when I started playing and I've made it this far, without being too much of a jerk (there is the Jeenyus/Xenos AFK mining bashing exception) so I don't see any problem with any other newbie leveling up, really.  It's all a matter of understanding the politics of PCRPG Keldrinia and knowing when and where you can do what you need to level up.  If you're lucky, a higher up will take you under his/her wing and show you the ropes.  If you're unlucky, you'll get too frustrated to continue and you weren't cut out for it anyway.

I'm getting too much into this discussion and too wordy....

I like pie.

The issue comes down to remorting. That's what the gods want to do. Me especially. I have no intent to max out for more than a day or two. I play the game to remort. That's the entire point of the game.
I don't play it because I like the people. Sure there are a few people I enjoy conversing with now and then, but I'd still play if they left. I played back in the days of lag when the server was empty all night except for ghettobot and I.

I like remorting, and I like doing it as fast as humanly possible. I think my record at the moment is about 45 minutes, no quests, just Ghettozone Exp.

I know why it was invented and Ghettozone has helped the Mino crowding issue. I rarely see more than 2 or 3 people in there at a time anymore. Low RLs do level in Ghettozone, some prefer it to Uberzone, even with the Gods there.

Don't think I don't understand or care about the issue, I've been mentioning it since Ghettozone was created. Within hours of its creation I saw that it was going to be an afk playground for Gods.

If Particle agrees, let's have Demon Zone converted to God Zone. If that happens, I'll leave Ghettozone forever, just as I've left all the other zones forever. I'm sure most of the other gods would, too.

You conveniently left my name out of your bashing list.

Particle Points were intended to bring as many people to the server for long lengths of time as they could, afk or not. I guess people are lucky I haven't actually been spending any of my points  :P

You can't add remort level to the zone hoarding rule unless you give a viable option for high remorts. The God Zone would be that option but wouldn't completely solve the problem unless you lock out high remorts from the low RL version (and preferably lock out low remorts from the higher version as well). Gods get a place to afk level without stealing exp, low RLs get a safe place to level.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to check if someone's actually AFK, scripting-wise.

Well I know that in one RPG mod before how they whittled out the AFK people was to check if someone was in a zone for an extended amount of time and then just send then a message like "If you are not afk type #<random> notafk" and then have a function create spelling errors in the text so it might change If to fI or type to tpe which would prevent a lot of scripts from spoting the afk command.  I don't know I have seen it done before with a constant message in another server and it kinda worked

can the server detect player actions and/or type messages? If so, then it could just have a timer on when the last action and/or message was typed. If it's too long, then the guy gets the boot.

From what I know messages can be monitored but the actions can be monitored but not in actual movement of where they are going but if they move you can tell.  But I personally think that a warning is always fair because you never know someone might just be sitting there reading the conversations
