Crash Protection
« on: August 13, 2006 08:31 am CDT »
I suggest you should get worstaims crash protection and the client crash protection by Plasmatic. There server has been crashing clients lately + a crash protection would be good. Lemme know if you need those 2 scripts.

The client crashing has been due to quest development/testing. Some buildings/disfiles cause client crashes when spawned. It is not a linebreak or other exploit, nor can it be protected against, but we should be done the crashy phase of the quest development soon.

Thank you for the comment and the information though. :)

Tribes chokes on itself from time to time.  The server app is unstable by default--especially when running a big mod.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Last I heard the way PCRPG server was crashed in Tribes is via remoteeval spam.

There is a very simple fix.  Make a function that is called from every remoteeval function and check for when someone spams.  If the function returns false, make it so that the remote will just return.
