Fortress Forever!
« on: August 27, 2006 09:14 am CDT »
This is a HL2 mod that should be entering beta stages very soon!  Its an updated version of the old Team Fortress Classic that was out for the original HL.

http://www.fortress-forever.com/

They posted new screens today and I am slobbering over them right now.  I believe after their playtest today they should also be releasing a video.

Exciting times!  Fortress Forever and the Upcoming TF2 will make sure that I don't reach a 3.0 GPA anytime soon.

I'm shooting for above a 3.5 this semester, as that will raise my overall average GPA...i got very low last semester. I guess it's a good thing I dont have HL2 :D

I played Team Fortress for the original HL awhile back. Pretty fun, I don't have HL2 though, so I probably won't get to experience Fortress Forever or TF2.

Time to bust out my old school Team Fortress days.  TF was originally for Quake 1.  Around the time TF2.4 became popular, it was total insanity--not like this MegaTF bullmalarkey you can find today.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Original TF for quake was insane.  I couldnt take it after playing TFC for months.  Actually, it kind of depressed me, since it was using the original quake engine -- all the environments were gloomy.  I couldnt handle it, and went back to my TFC'ing.

Was it good insane or bad insane? Or insane in the membrane?

I think more of insane in the membrane.  All the models looked evil and scary, like you'd run out of the room if one of them appeared behind you in your room.

Like..

Thats freaking terrifying. I recently tried to play TFC for the first time in years. I was playing and kicking ass. After a couple days I noticed somehting was fishy. They all had a ping of 0. :-/

It's been a long freaking time since I've seen those pictures.  Yeah, it's like a big fast-paced evil killing fest.  That's what made it fun.

I always enjoyed the engineer, soldier, demoman, and hwg classes.  Back in those days there was no such thing as a fancy menu screen, either.  You changed classes by typing your class in the console and it would switch you after you died.

I got HL2 working very well under wine yesterday.  By that I mean I have it running with DX8 support and in a windowed 1024x768 with fps between 20-60.  Anything higher or fullscreen crashes the program.  No antialiasing yet.  I havent quite figured out how to get antialiasing working with these nvidia drivers (picked up a 7800gs agp about a week or so ago).

Old school is right.  Loved playing the Quake 1 mod.  I bet there's still people playing it.

Yup, just checked my old Kali II program...there's still at least 3 active TF quake servers and around 12-20 people on each one.

Logging on now...

autodownloading new wav files....prob models too

...and I was gonna try to get some sleep tonight.....

I ran into him one day in SourceForts, how fortunate was that?  He's a good player.
