The sky is boring.  Random sky picked on startup would be cooool.

If the light source was one single entity that could be inserted as a seperate, moveable object, I would say make the sky a seamless transitional sky. Make the sun rise and set in a time span of a few hours...that would be cool.

Oh well.
I like plasma's random sky idea. Or maybe make it change once every few hours to a different (but similar) look. Like, go from Sunny, to slightly cloudy, to heavy clouds, to super heavy clouds, add rain, then make the sky dark, or something...

I dont really care but a random sky on startup would be the easiest to implement.  Changing the sky while the game is running is known to cause graphics glitches.

Changing the sky is a good idea. Perhaps Particle will listen this time or do we need to make a VOTE.. I like the bright sky in tribes, but i also like the idea of comming onto the server and not knowing what colour the sky will be...Adds a little to the experience if nothing else. Also i believe the dark sky is a little more damanding on the FPS for all us FPS geeks.

Someone start a vote on this topic..

Also, particle, what's your views on this?

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I prefer weather. If not a sky change, can you make more dramatic weather changes?

Also, can fogginess be changed in-game?

There's a program, similar to Hudbot, you can use to overlay a different (and cooler looking) sky. It also rotates the sky ranging from speeds that make you want to vomit to a plesantly slow drifty cloud thing.

Hey, it rains in TRPG last I knew.  You just have to use software mode for it to render is all.  Sound is still there.

Which volume is the sky files in?

I am thinking of copying the file for the sky from like broadside or something and renaming it to what ever the dingy sky is so it will still at least look decent client side, just for me =P

I remember one time, I believe Ozzy took the sky down.  The whole thing turned bright red, what a mess.  It was around 2am, and my eyes nearly came out of my skull.
