It's actually a pretty nice place to live, except for the taxes.  You about have to put a car in your front lawn on cinder blocks for them not to appraise your house as worth another 5-10K every time they go by.  Doesn't matter that nobody ever does anything to their houses.  They just want more money in property taxes.  Also, don't build close to the city limits if it's a popular place.  They'll just annex the entire neighborhood to rope in more tax income.  Build at least a mile or two out of town.  Traffic isn't bad, so it's not that big of a deal.  You can still get wireless Internet access.  Just make sure you aren't on rural power.  If you are, they'll jack you on KW/H prices.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

You get taxes every where you go though. The local city has nothing better to do but set around all day whine about not getting paid enough, while drinking coffee and shoveing Doughnuts in there fat little mouths. So they do what is best. Raise our taxes. That way they can sit around some more and when they need more doughnuts for there fat--- they can afford it.

Oh did I mention. I hate paying taxes.

What's the landscaping like? When I think of Kansas, I automatically think of dry grass for many, many miles. Dusty roads, hot sun, and in the city everything looking dry and bland (This is all based on what one of my friends say it's like. He has family out there)
So what is it really like (In your area at least)

I did a comparison of western Kansas (where you are thinking) and eastern Kansas (where I live) to show the difference in a thread not that long ago.  I'll see if I can dig up the pictures again.

Found them!

Western Kansas:

Eastern Kansas (Where I Live):

Wow.  You know I have probably been to Parsons, KS when I was about 10 years old.

In addition, I have relatives that live in Cherryvale, Coffeyville, Oswego and perhaps Erie (if I remember right.)  My great grandpa also lived in Independance, KS.

Small world.. biaches!

forking.. awesome.

The place I want here is about 230k to buy.. don't know the property taxes.. but it's in northern California.. so it figures, right?

Hmm...

Taxes were never legally ratified in to the US constitution by the required number of states.  In addition, taxes are not legal in the form by which they are employed, even if the taxation laws had been ratified, because they are not apportioned taxes as needed.

BiachhH!!

Hmm.. I just looked at the free land thing.

I am not sure it would be such a great place to build.. and farming looks like it would be a major pain to accomplish there, too.

Hmm!
