Not really.  I have a great fan base already.  Besides...there are people that play over here that I would not want in my server.

That is some pretty work there, sinister.  I liked the NPCs with the spikey ring around them, and the dragon honestly impressed me.

I do understand that you just want to show off the hard work to the folks here, and that is cool.  However, at the same time that is obviously a recruiting video to get people to play TRPG and to do so on your server.  I ask that you please don't do anything on my forum that you wouldn't do on my server or appreciate me doing on yours.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

No way man.... anyways...I'll even admit that your server is about 100x more stable than mine.  That's why I dont get alot of players.  They dont stick around after the 23rd crash or so.

So do the dragons not attack yet, or do they just not have an animated attack?

I'm working on getting a few different types of dragons (4) to be exact.  Have them each have a special ability and belong to each house.  We have 4 houses instead of 5.  It will encourage people to belong to a house for more reasons than just killing for RP.

Its also annoying when you are fighting enemies that hit for hundreds or thousands of damage and it lags out for awhile.  You come back with 200 less lck if you were lucky.  The ideas are neat but making it stable would be nice.

The way your character carries over to multiple servers is nice too.  Any insight into what you did?  Its not some kind of hack like running tribes from a network share is it?

Tribes can't even handle TRPG with total stability.  That's one of the main reasons I don't do any of the really creative, neat stuff like Yoshi back in the day or what sinister is working on currently.

Yeah, it's kinda pointless.  The main reason to do it is to get a solid fanbase for the next evolution of RPG.  Gonna start working on a new rpg sometime in 2007.  Possibly basing it on Battlefield 2 since there's a good following there and their graphics are great (compared to tribes 1).  Still shopping around for a game/engine.

Stability wont be a major concern after we get this:

http://sinbot.net/serverfund.html

I even put my motorcycle on Ebay to try to raise some money for it.  Unfortunately motorcycles dont sell very well with winter approaching.  The only offer i got was for a trade.  My bike for a chevy pickup truck which i will probably do since i can resell the truck after I give it a paintjob and make more money.

It isn't the machine that's the problem.  The Tribes server program itself is just unstable.  Don't trust anything made by Dynamix if you want something well-debugged and stable.  Heh.  Just look at how Tribes 2 was launched and the fiasco associated with it.

If you want to work on an RPG in a new engine, why don't you join our project for Source?  It's something I've wanted to seriously work on for a long time, but I don't have the time to do it single-handedly.  Talented developers are hard to find these days.
