Deleveling Characters
« on: December 4, 2006 08:31 pm CST »
Just wondering what the admins think of Delvling characters..

Clearly the high lvl gods are starting to do it, silverstein then xenos, Just to be able to kill lower lvl players, It takes about a night to do and you have to either Dlog or get your friend to do it and kill a character over and over again, clearly breaking the kill per day limit.

Part, hubba, corona ect...(not rose, i dont care what she thinks)

I can't vouch for Xenos, but Silverstein lost his levels in the Rock Quest.

I lost my levels from the rock too when Bonzai was running it. Silverstein went right after me.

I don't know about silverstein but I have not even attacked anyone since I lost levels from the rock.  I could of attacked you before I lost the levels regardless. We are both in different houses.  Unless you concern is for other players and not for yourself.  Typing that almost made me lol.

Never really thought about it much... my only concern would be the rules broken as a byproduct, like double logging, RP gains from kills, etc.

Particle, your thoughts?

Particle (I think) already said this was okay. It came up a couple of months ago. As long as you delevel via quest (rock), it's fine. Or, you can use a second player (who's okay with it) to kill over and over until your level decreases. As long as they aren't in a house, you don't gain anything.

What is the problem with it?  Unless it keeps skills higher than the maximum allowed by the lower level (glitch), it isn't a problem.  If it does, however, I'll have to fix it in the next release.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

you mean it should drop your skills (bash ect) to the proper skill level for your charcters level? Hardly seems fair that lvl 500 people have the5 characters legally.

Which is basically what it does. When you lose experience or levels skill points and skill levels stay the same no matter how much you lose. Of course, you also can't increase your skills again until you reach the level that you were, which, at those high levels, takes weeks/months.

Just a glitch that some of the higher leveled people use to attack Focus, and that's all I've seen it used for.

So if you're going to fix the glitch, then what's going to happen with the players that have done it before u fixed it?

Umm, nothing?

---

When the fix goes into effect, I'll also run a check on everybody's characters to see if anybody is doing it.  I suggest that I don't find anybody who is.
