On tech tv, they spoke of a very, very powerful electromagnetic motor that worked for elevators.  It was amazing seeing the amount of RPM's that baby could do.  I'm not really for electric cars, because the one's ive seen (sorry crash) arent really that sweet when it comes to milage.  Of course, the truly cool cars are the ones that get 2 miles to the gallon, so til hydrogen powerd cars come into being, ima stick with those babies.

My point is, that the power required to charge the car's "battery" doesn't come from infinity. Electricity can only transfer power; it can not amplify it. You charge up the battery, and the power is stored and used to run the car. The reason why fossil fuel powered cars are more cost-efficient is that you get more energy out than you put in. A tiny spark from the spark plug sets off an explosion (a small one, but there are many). There is no dispute in environmental friendliness or of replenishable resources, but fuel-powered motors are the most cost/energy efficient. And Darwin, about the gas motor charging the electric one... That's just plain silly. First, it doesn't eliminate the need for a fossil fuel engine, like we are questing after, and second, it's like filling up your water glass by filling another glass with water, then pouring it into your original. We can just use the one that has the water in it. And, following my analogy, water will always be left over in the glass that you poured from, so it's even less efficient.

Yes, but think of it this way.  Solar and Wind power plants provide the electricity specificly for recharging cars.  Therefore, they wouldn't use any fossil fuels at all (propulsion systems).  But what it all comes down to is pollution caused by gasoline powered cars, not from the power plants that will be needed to provide electricity for the cars.  I personally think they need to develope matter-antimatter reactions very soon-like because I won't settle for a plug in the wall car.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

The moral of the story is as long as the oil companys are big players. Gas will be the main stay of car power.

Ozzy Yes as long as oil is aroung they can charge any price they want. They have the rights to the electric/water/and misc powerd cars. So only when the oil is no longer profitable or existant will they allow mass production.

The day that solar power and wind power will generate enough to run all of the cars on the planet is the day that I grow a tail.

Whats that thing growing out your ass?  LoL.

I think we should plant wind plants in desolate areas of the world such as in the middle of the ocean.  Or, another good idea is to plant a giant solar panel in space, which can be accessed by a space elevator (some of you may know what I'm talking about).  Since much energy is lost as it enters into the atmosphere.
