Most of yesterday and a little bit of today, Particle's server was down. We all know this. However, during this time, somebody created a fake Particle's server with the same name. So, when people looking for Particle's joined that game, the person who made that server instantly had access to the joiner's password.

This is what happened to Jonah. It was not Triton, as we were led to believe. (I myself am guilty of accusing Triton. I apologize to him.) Jonah's character was ruined and I fear other's may soon be.

If you connect to Particle's using the name of the server, instead of faves, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD as soon as you can. The idiot who is responsible for messing up Jonah's character has your password. Again, Triton, I apologize, and spread the word in the server about this. We don't need any other characters ruined.

I made a mistake. The server was called Particle's Temp server, or something along those lines. If you joined that, change your password. (I'd still change my password if you use names instead of faves, anyway, to be safe.)

I hope the admins restore Jonah's ruined character.

Also, be sure to check the forums for any updates if a temporary server is set up before logging onto another *fake* server.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Log files are your friend... Check the servers and it shows his ip when he connected.

i think its time to give out my RPG connection script =).  it does auto-changing passwords when u connect to an "unknown" server and sets your password to what it should be when u connect to a "known" server.

Please note that phpbb has loging of IP's.  When I mentioned that, I presumed HE knew what I was talking about...

He could simply compare the FALSE server's IP address, with the list of IP's for the forum.  Even guests IP's are all in there
