Why does everquest look so high quality but still run so slow and have high system requirements?  A while ago I saw an update pack for it that required you to have like 512mb of memory.  I mean, cmon, you can see the outlines of the voxels and stuff.

It doesn't run slow and you don't have to have 512 mb ram but Its good to have.. You can turn all the new models on characters off making it run faster but the characters look completely differnt, not ugly different. You can set it to were its very fast and have 210 mb ram if you mess with it a little bit. Its some zones that lag REALLY bad because so many people or so many things going on. Like the trade zone(Bazaar) it has about 300-500 People in it depending on the time. It has about 20 rows full of people selling stuff. I'll get a pic of that if you wish to see. That zone lags REALLY bad unless you look at the ground, Looking at the ground makes it have NO lag whatso ever unless your connection sucks.

Do I have the only machine that doesn't have a frame rate drop when I look anywhere in TRPG?
« Last Edit: December 31, 1969 06:00 pm CST by Particle »
As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

Liar!  You said you had an 8500 last night!

Also, about the 512 mb issue, if I can find that issue of pcgamer, I recall they guy complaining that after installing an expansion pack, the system req's for it were 512 mb ram.

Darwin, I just want to slap you forking silly...

I said my other computer has an ATi AIW 8500DV.  My main computer has a 9700 Pro.  Any way you want me to prove it?  How about my 3dmark 2001 SE scores?

Satisfied now?
