This Period in PCRPG (Episode 5) Released!
« on: February 27, 2007 04:30 pm CST »
As found on the news page at http://http://www.pcrpg.org:

This Period in PCRPG Episode 5
Since my new microphone arrived today, I felt like I should do a new episode of TPIPCRPG for you guys.  In this episode I discuss issues brought up over the last few months by various users and also where I think PCRPG is headed.  Go ahead and give it a listen.  It sounds MUCH better than before--less white noise and more detail! (read as: won't make you want to stab your ears out)

Running time is 9:34 (much shorter than last time) and it is available in both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis.

Episode 5 (Q7 Ogg Vorbis, 9.52MB)
Episode 5 (224Kbps ABR MP3, 15.3MB)

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

That kind of defeats the point.  Also, that takes a lot of time.

It seems like I say this a lot about questions regarding episodes, but...did you actually listen to the program?  I did answer that question in the first few minutes of the program.

I dunno if you remember what previous episodes sounded like.  I suggest you do a comparison if you're seriously in the market for a nice mic.  I would wholly recommend the one I just received.

Sounded at least 5 times better than 4 in my opinion, we appreciate your server Part, But we can all agree, It'd be a beautiful thing with a few more fixes.

Have you posted a pic of your (What im so sure is extremely large) microphone/Headset/

No, but I could do so.  I'll be back in a few minutes.

Also, what did you have in mind for fixes?  Nobody has complained (to me) about anything being broken in quite some time.

I think by 'fixes' he just means a general content update. I can't think of anything that affects players that needs actual fixing.

Is there a changeable limitation on how many objects admins can spawn?
Or is that just a Tribes limitation?

Tokath spawns a lot of very useful objects (and dozens of purchased objects for players who bought houses) and it makes running larger quests difficult because the server crashes very quickly. Even after the objects are deleted the server seems to want to crash, maybe there's a fixable memory leak or something.
Corona has recently added some commands to delete or restore Tokath's spawned objects, which is very nice, but if possible it'd be even nicer to have increased limits.

Another zone for Gods at least RL500 would be super! I know it's near impossible, even for other Gods, to level with myself and Xenos, so we occassionally try to go to zones like Uber or Centuria to ease up on Tenebrous Cavern so others can use. But, at our remort level, we just want to be able to sit back and level without any issues with other players!

You've easily got the best server in terms of reliability. The best in terms of, can't think of the word, where everything is stable, no worries about dupers or cheaters handing out billions of coins, rare objects, free levels, etc.
There just isn't much for players like Xenos and I to do but keep remorting and unintentionally hoarding a zone. This is the only TribesRPG I play, and pretty much the only Tribes I play at all anymore!

Sennheiser PC-150 Headset:  I used to do the show with its mic.  Better than most but you can't get away from the fact that it's a cheap dynamic mic.  Very comfortable.

Samson CO1U USB Microphone:  This thing weighs like 1-2 pounds, but the sound quality can't be beat for under $100.  It's a studio condenser microphone which is much better than dynamic mics.  The pickup pattern is also tighter and rejects most noise not coming from directly before it.

USB connector at the bottom of the mic.

The business side of the microphone.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I can do for people that have so many hit points.  I figured Centuria was retarded strong to begin with since the bot levels are so high, etc.  I guess I could raise the level cap some for bots (only) to like 5000 or something and rework a zone to use bots between 2500 and 5000.  How does that sound?

Fancy shmancy! What are these 'other' audio projects? Do I foresee a PCRPG  Musical CD in the future?

Dude even when I played the bots were under powered...Cent bots never gave me difficulty. Think me and someone else were the first 2 people to lure the stupid knights into ktown. Oh the glory days...Newb chars spawn first time and get whacked for 1200.
