Auto-Remort
« on: March 5, 2007 12:08 pm CST »
I was asking about an auto-remort script the other day and Paradox says it exists, as I thought it would.  But my question now is can you people (see: Xenos, Rose) actually run the script so we dont have to wait until you return from afk while you have been 101+ for the last who-knows-how-many hours.  That would be wonderful.

My script teleports me out of the zone when I'm leveling, normally. When I'm claycollect mode (only in Uber) it does nothing other than continue collecting claymores. Just bash me out or stand in any one of the other afk uber spots.

Xenos is another matter  :P  When we're leveling together in Cavern we don't remort because we use eachother for party exp. Just bash him out or ask a pk to fell him (or shove him to the back and rape the party exp).

I think I remember hearing of a AFK Script as well, where it automates your character, it remorts and then puts you back in the same position that you were before you remorted and cast the same spells. Not sure if that exist but I remember somebody on the server talking about. Confirmation?

Also would we obtain this auto-remort script?

We talk about it, but no one has one. It would only work for high level gods who go to the same zone and stand in the same position every time. It's a hassle to write because when you teleport to the zone there are 4 or 5 different spots you can teleport to and you have to write a walk sequence for each one. Any bit of lag or something getting in your way will throw the script off. And the script itself would be inaccurate.
I could fairly easy write an admin version that would allow admins to afk remort all day and night, but that's too close to admin boosting for me to touch.

Your best bet for afk scripts is to figure out how to write them on your own, people are getting more and more cautious about who gets the afk scripts lest they fall into undesireable hands. Does it give us an advantage? Yes. An unfair advantage? No, anyone could learn it the same as Xenos and I have.

What tools do I need to script for TRPG? Programming languages, SDK kits, etc. Hope I post this correctly, maybe I should move it to assistance?

Do I need to know a language or just know how to read the scripts?

It's Tribes' version of C/C++. If you're familiar with any sort of programming you can generally figure out the syntax.
Reading up on C/C++ probably wouldn't help you as much as having a basic understanding of programming in general.

I took a class for HTML 4 years ago in high school and even I could figure out enough to write a script.  It's not hard.

BTW we are not really helping Craeo because now he'll be on the PC more and get divorced for sure =O

I started working on the completely afk remorting script but stopped after I got bored trying to map out every movement to get back into place.

If you know any programming then the syntax should be easy to learn. The hard part is knowing what functions exist in tribes.  I learned from reading other script(deus, presto). I really could use a list of all tribes internal functions.

When I first started out in tribes I used several scripts, Zool was the easiest I found to rearrange the keys and make stuff automated. Then I changed over to the Dark side and went to Dues.  I would send you a copy of some old scripts, but you are like a week late. I cleared my old hard drive and erased all the old tribes stuff that  I no longer have a need for. You could probably use a search engine and find it somewhere on the internet. I am sure there is some old site for tribes that has it.

Ask and ye shall recieve:

Edit: well, never mind that link. It used to work, I'll have to ask Plasmatic if he still has a copy up somewhere. It was a little program that would brute force functions from Tribes, even the undocumented ones.
Try messing around with exportfunctions();. I couldn't get it to work in the 30 seconds I played with it  :? Let me know if you do, though.

To get all the functions available to you just type this into yoru console

exportfunctions("*", "temp\\functionlist.txt", true);

It is actually possible to make a script make your character get back to precise locations on the map that won't get messed up with lag.....of course I am not going to be mentioning how to do that because it takes quite a bit of knowledge about tribes
