As I have seen many of the participants on PCRPG have pets, cats in particular, I thought I'd share this with you.
We had to put down our youngest cat "Lil Fella" last week, due to kidney failure, which the vet said was very unusual in a cat so young. His kidneys had stopped operating completely and was too weak for any treatments, so we had him euthanized. Then we learned of the pet food recall by Menu Foods.
A couple of days ago, we noticed our oldest cat, "Maks" vomiting...a few times in so many days, which was odd. We took him to the vet and turns out he's on the same road as "Lil Fella" but not as bad. He's currently in the animal hospital getting IV fluids to help flush his system. With any luck he'll recover.
Our third cat "Buddy" oddly shunned the food, which he normally loved, during that time period. His blood test came back normal and he seems fine.
My wife and I have started a blog on blogger.com for people to post their stories of similar experiences. The national news media stated that only 10 cats and a few dogs had been affected, however, we've received more comments than that just within the last 24 hours.
So far my wife's done interviews with USA Today, the Orlando Sentinal and WTOC TV in Savannah, GA. One of the people who contacted us is getting in touch with a lawyer, too.
Please go to
http://http://www.menufoods.com/recall and make sure the food your giving to your pet is not on the list, and if your brand is there, you may want to take you pet to the vet to have some blood tests done.
If you find that your pets is suffering or dying because of this, please contact us by commenting on the first post at
http://http://petfoodrecall.blogspot.com We're trying to get a feel for how many animals have been affected by the tainted food and also lend support to those who have lost pets.
Thanks to the PCRPG community for letting me post this and spread the word.
