Same here. fork WD. You can quote me in your e-mail to them, I'd be happy. When I upgraded to a REAL hard drive, I purchased a Maxtor instead of a WD simply because I know for a straight fact WD is utter malarkey, and will probably continue even into the SATA market.
After I got my 80 gig Maxtor, I put my old* 30 gig WD hard drive, that I bought almost a year from today, into my other computer used for gaming / dedicated hosting, etc. And what would you know, it starts "clicking" as usual of WD's... I had noticed it before while it was in my main computer, just was hoping it wouldn't fail before I purchased a new hard drive.
Well, here I am posting from my good computer with a Maxtor. Seems I will need to RMA that son of a unsavory woman and move on because that is the very last dollar WD will ever see from me again.
P.s. This isn't the first... more like FOURTH...
NEVER BUY WESTERN DIGITAL.
