If you have seen Transformers in theaters, you'd have seen this trailer before it:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/hd/There is no title, no casting credits. Just a release date and "From the producer J.J. Abrams". No footage of what is actually attacking; just the reaction of the people to "it".
The latest rumors have put a name to this under-the-radar hollywood movie: Cloverfield. However, that is yet to be confirmed or denied by any hollywood officials. Needless to say, from what little we've seen from the trailer, it looks pretty good.
There's no plot summary or anything, just a teaser website with 5 minigames, each unlocking a video clip of a man named Van Mantra, trying to give you hints and information for "when the time comes." He talks of a man named Ethan Haas who has prophesized the coming of this terror. People didn't believe him, but when more and more of his visions came true, they started to listen, especially when his visions foretold death and destruction on a scale this world has never seen.
The main website is here at
http://www.ethanhaaswasright.comThere is an alternate campaign denying all of this, a blog at
http://ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com/It's viral marketting alright, and it's good. I've never seen anything explode this quickly.
btw go see Transformers.
