Yeah I've heard some good results from many people, especially from the [H]ard Forums.  I was thinking of getting one, and the price is right too, but I don't know if it's much of an upgrade from a 2200+.  But I can only o/c it so much because of the god forsaken Thoroughbred A core(damn this to hell).  I can only o/c it by FSB, and that is 150MHz, which gets it up to 2.025 which it can run stable for about a few hours even at 1.85 vcore.  Actually, I may just order that today and send a check in, hell it's like 80$ now isn't it?

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

About $92 from newegg.

So far, here's my results:
All are from Sandra v2003.3.9.44

2.0GHz @ stock 1.65v
10x200
MIPS:  7380
MFLOPS:  3010
Integer:  11092 it/s
Float:  11803 it/s

2.1GHz @ stock 1.65v
10.5x200
MIPS:  7874
MFLOPS:  3150
Integer:  11665 it/s
Float:  12416 it/s

I'll try 2.2GHz pretty quick.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Try to run at 200MHz FSB with lowest possible CAS latencies.  Show both CPU math calculations and MMX extensions as well as memory benchmark.  I'm sure it will perform like a champ.  What is the multiplier on that baby?

I haven't gotten a chance to overclock more yet, I'll try soon.

I'm trying to find the CPU's ceiling at the moment, so memory timings aren't very aggressive.  That way it rules out memory-related crashes as much as possible.  Once I hit the max, I'll start lowering my timings.

With my Palomino, I could run a 185MHz FSB with 3-2-2-2 timings no problem.  I run a PC3500 GeIL Dual-Channel UDL kit in my machine (1GB).  It's rated at 6-3-3-2 for PC3500 speeds.  People have had it running like 224MHz before with similar timings to that though.  It's some high-grade memory--don't let forum junkies BS you out of GeIL.

My god peoples, the Barton cores were announced like at the beginning of the year.  Get in touch with life!

I see you haven't even raised the vcore, Barton cores rock.  What kind of CPU cooler are you on?

It'll do 2.3GHz at stock vcore.  I'm using an SLK800A with a 50cfm Sunon fan on it.

It doesn't seem to like 2.4GHz very well.  It'll boot and I originally thought it was going to work.  However, explorer started to crash a lot after a while and it restarted.  I raised the vcore to 1.75 and still no go.  0.1v over is about as far as I want to go.  Stock voltage is preferable.  The AMD tech docs specify 50mv +/-, so I think it's safe to assume 100mv isn't too healthy.  It's not that I'm not a very good overclocker, but that I like to find a happy medium some where that won't kill my chip--it has to last a year and I've overclocked so far on chips before that they don't last that long.

I had a 533MHz coppermine celeron that made ~930MHz... it and the board died about 8-10months afterward.  It had a golden orb on it.  Then I bought an AMD Thunderbird (1200MHz) CPU and it lasted--but it was one stubborn chip and refused to make much more.  The next year I bought an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (Palomino); this year a Barton.

Oh yes, I remember people getting outrageous o/cs from those celery's.  And the T-birds, those were probably the most stubborn and the hottest of all time.  I had a 1.0GHz T-bird that only o/c to 1.1 and that was it none more.

Yeah you know I would just run your Barton on safe grounds with default voltage at 2.3.  And I also think on the 3000+ they rasied the vcore by .5 to make it a little more stable I believe.

I was thinking of getting one of those Cooler Master ASB-V73 for when I want to get some overclocking, but a Volcano 9 might be pretty good.

Why would anyone need anything more than 2 GHZ?  Its all about the video card now.  CPU Mhz really isnt the bottleneck today when it comes to gaming as long as you have 1.6ghz or higher.

Actually no, my fiend.  With the 9800 Pro, it is very much CPU limited.  But they said when they would overclock a P4 3.06 to around 4Ghz, it became video card limited.

Thats not what I meant.  I mean you can tackle just about anything with a decent processor clock speed and an awesome graphics card (providing you also have good RAM too).

LoL, im Jason's fiend.
