I dont believe that our lives are written, but I do believe that the universe is propulsed by action-reaction.  One action in one part of the galaxy can adversely affect a reaction in another part of the galaxy (i.e.: space-junk sattelite breaks off from earth's orbit, travels millions of miles, crash lands on Alien Lord's head, Aliens begin war with Humans...) ...mmkay...

Something that annoys me is the fundamentalist approach of "fate" by saying it is "God's plan."   ...  People, we are given free will.  We are not bound by a plan where our lives are scripted.  What about the meaningless lives of so many people that have little or no affect on history whatsoever?

I watched the new Twilight Zone on UPN last night and it was about some guy that always had bad luck.  Turns out people "higher-up" write out their day-to-day lives and is all played out every day.  The main character ends up talking to the 'worker' who is his personal 'bad-luck' buddy that goes around and breaks things.  He then finds the place where the people write out people's lives.  He in turn finds this person and begs them to not write out his life any more and that he will control his own life from there on.

Good story, one of the few Twilight Zones that has a happy ending.

Gotta love SBC with their 6Mbps tier for 45$
(Yes, on their site it only shows 3Mbps, but it is actually 6Mbps, I would know :)).

as entropy increases on the universe, we all get closer and closer to being pretty screwed up....  but back to the actual topic, our lives might have some sort of pre-determined final destination (John Calvin - PreDestination) and it might have some strange twist of fate that causes our lives to get plagued by events written by Nostradamus but our lives are not completely written in stone, rather a web of ideas and as you go through live, the web gets shorted and shorted from all sides until finally your path becomes exactly what you made it to be.

Who cares?

Whether your life is predetermined or not, you're still going to live your life then die, never knowing whether it was.. or wasn't.

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

Right now I am going to demonstrate free-will.  Check it out.

*punches wall, hard*

I just punched the wall.  Wait, was that predetermined?  God, now I dont know lol.  I popped it into my mind, punched the wall, my knuckles hurt a little bit, but still I really dont know.  Free will?  Predestination?  Who the hell knows now?

Pre-Determination and Pre-Destination are 2 totally different topics.  Pre-Determination says what will happen throughout your entire life, Pre-Destination just says what your final outcome will be.  do either exist?  maybe, maybe not, yet to be prove.  do they impact our life?  depends on your beliefs.

the meaning of life is what you make it.  for shorty, its smokin weed in front of the computer talking about us having no life.  for ken, its having sex (as he says in his post).  a group of people might have the same meaning on life, but there is no true dictionary or literary meaning for it, the meaning is what you make of it.

this arguement leads into another, creationism vs evolutionism.....  during the "Monkey Trial" of 1925,  John Scopes was convicted for teaching evolutionism in Tennessee when the law strictly said only creationism should be taught.  whats your opinion...  did god create all?  did we evolve from eukaryotic organisms?  or did god only create the earth and we evolved from water?

definitely evolutionism for me... thats why i said... what i said about sex... i meant were just animals... and were meant to breed...

im glad u didnt call it darwinisim... as so many people do...

i just find it hard to belive.. some dude.. was just.. here and just decided to make us... theres to many holes in the bible or in any religion eg. dinosaurs.. then again theres to many holes in our evolutionary chain.. but for now im with the theory of evoloution

it was aliens who created us i tells u !!!! j/k but.. thats still as good as an explaination as any other... i suppose lolz

anyone else find it ironic.. that darwin( the tribes player) is using.. that name.. even though he is obviously religious ... heh

if we came from aliens... where did aliens come from??
if we came from god...  where did god come from??

there are actually suprisingly few holes in the evolution chain now, a lot of new species of animals have been discovered and when the entire map is laid it, it makes sense, so evolutionism does have a stronger base than creationism now.
