PROBLEM CANNOT FIND MASTER SERVER EVEN THOUGH IM CONNECTED TO I NET ARHHHHGGGGGGGGG help meh peeeeesseeee!

The XP personal firewall causes all sorts of problems.  Try Gamespy 3D, the old version (before Arcade was introduced).

As a point of history:  Our last server clear was on September 27, 2004.  That is 4963 days ago (13.6 years) as of today.

If you're visiting after a long hiatus and have forgotten your password, try emailing me via the support form at http://www.pcrpg.org.

If your character is from after the 2004 clear but appears to have been deleted or reset, chances are it was caught in one of the inactive account purges over the years.  Backups were made before such events, so try the support form.

I'm having the same problem, except with CS... I just hooked up a new router, and I think it upgraded security.  I can play tribes, but wheneve I try too connect to a CS server it keeps retrying.

Either a problem with WON, which it normally is, or its your connection.  If it isnt WON, I unplug my modem's power, and plug it back in to restart it.  That normally does the trick.  If not, gamespy for you too.

If it gets to the stage where the server retries (and I assume eventually fail after 4 attempts) then you're past WON and it doesn't lie there.

No, not 9600 particle.  Acoustic modems  (oomph).  Talk about flintsones.  You'd jam one of those on each side of the line into a paper cup attached with a string.  My dad has a few of those in the garage.
