My Baby! (AKA Industrial-Strength Zombie Repellant)
« on: March 17, 2008 10:59 pm CDT »
Today is the day that it finally happened.  My first SIG product arrived!  I am now the proud owner of a SIG P250 chambered in 9mm para.  :D  I've been a SIG fan for so long--first exposed and infatuated as a Counter-Strike player and later as I did actual research.  Ironically, I found out that SIG doesn't even make a P228 in .357 SIG caliber as is depicted in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source.  Go figure!

This model even has night sights for if the zombies invade in the darkness.  I'm not sure how I feel knowing that there is a radioactive substance as a part of my gun (tritium) to make the green dots glow permanently for the next twenty years or so, but I guess nobody gets cancer from it.  The older radium ones caused cancer though I guess.  I just hope they're right about the tritium ones not being so unfriendly.

Anyway, this model was only announced around the new year season.  Mine was manufactured in February.  It's literally hot off the press!

All images can be clicked for larger versions.

Damn zombies.  You can never be too prepared.

Here is my baby in its case, as I first saw it.

Inside the case.  Beams of holy light seem to eminate from the weapon.

The beauty closer-up.

Removed from its clothing and with magazine inserted (front).

Looking down the sights (but angled to provide a look at the top).

A loaded magazine with fifteen rounds of zombie repellant.

$621.06 shipped ($670.12 after tax)

The single tone black version is significantly cheaper.  It runs about $540.

I recognize the make (Sig Sauer) of the gun from my time looking up airsoft guns, but I've never seen a P250. That malarkey looks amazing.

I think I miss two of the requirements for that:
- I'm not in high school
- I'm not completely bonking homicidal crazy

The only two things I enjoy shooting are inanimate targets and (in the future) the zombie overlords trying to take over the earth.

To be effective against a zombie attack you must also have a shotgun and a chainsaw in your arsenal.

A chainsaw?  Wouldn't all that blood splatter flying around be a very, very bad thing?

Maybe if they were infected zombies.  If you're fighting only the undead type you'd be fine.

What is the distinction?  A zombie is by definition infected with a zombificator agent.

Well, he's making reference to Ash, from the Evil Dead series, he fights the Undead which are close to zombies, but are basically magical, and if they do have blood, it's never infectious. Chainsaw would suck against Romero's or RE's zombies though.

Nice gun, I would need more than that for Zombies though, especially as I currently lack training with handguns.

Funny thing is, most zombie movies I've seen don't care about the splatter. You're infected by the bite. One exception was 28 days later where a guy was infected by getting blood in his eye.

Well, without knowing which kind of zombie the horde is, I think it would be safer to error on the side of distance.  Killing undead types from a distance is still safe.  Killing infector types from close contact is not.  Therefore, kill them from afar no matter which.

As for your lack of training, that's ok.  It's actually very easy.  Hold the pistol firmly with your strong hand with your arm more or less fully extended.  Use your other hand to cup around your first.  Press forward with your strong arm while you pull backward with the same amount of force with your weaker one.  Use as much force as is practical (to where it adds stability--not makes you start shaking from excessive force).  Doing this will keep your pistol more stable and also reduce muzzle climb.  This also prevents wrist injury to some extent.

All reminds me of resident evil series...
playstation (1 or 2) gun...resident evil in the playstation...shoot! shoot! shoot!

In any case very nice gun (but I though you were more into a lil bigger guns (not riffle just bigger assault gun)
Lack of training is just needed in close combat or close shooting situations.
You can't choose to tell a zombie to not go into your house at night, while there's no electricity.
Shooting in buildings is troublesome, especially if you have a horde coming at you.
Fighting a zombie in CC is very troublesome as you can't get hit even once, even for a pro.

shouldnn't working out get rid of this type of injury? I have never heard of this type of thing happening to someone, not even gun noobs...I'm not that much into guns anyways.

If zombies run...you're done for sure...physical training will help a bit...but in most cases you're screwed!

In terms of strength both arms are close, one is more agile though...not that much either, you can only see difference when it comes to details. You always need to train with both hands (in case one is injured).

Perhaps I should clarify there:

Strong arm/hand = whichever is going to be directly on the grip
Weak arm/hand = the other one

Generally, this means the strong side is your right side if you are right handed and are shooting most naturally (using your right side as such).  It doesn't really have anything to do with actual strength of one arm over the other.
