On Fission and Fusion:
If one wants to know which one releases more energy then they need to compare the mass of the input with the mass of the output
4 hydrogen atoms,AW:4.03176 ---> 1 helium atom, AW:4.002602
Now that tells you that .029158 mass has been coverted into energy, because it can't just disappear.
Someone do the fission part for me ;0
On the Sun and Planets:
No, We cannot destroy the sun. Ask a physics teacher if you want to know more. Now give us a billion years and I don't know.
We certainly can roast the exterior of a planet, but we have quite some time until humanity cooks up something of the magnitude of destroying a planet's interior and all.
The sun doesn't have enough mass to go supernova, but it will most certainly go nova when it runs out of fuel. I've heard a plethora of theories on how the sun will go. All of these were similar and said that the end product is a white dwarf and a few missing planets (give or take a gas giant or two).
On the fate of humanity:
We'll either destroy ourselves before the sun runs out of hydrogen fuel in 4 to 5 billion years in the future, left the planet long after that, or by some freakish luck maintain earth as a hospitable planet and have the technology to contain the sun (I would love to visit that future).
Man is its own worst enemy and its best friend. Man can be foolish at times and forget the lessons of the past. That is when disaster is inevitable. Our ability to get along with each other and to learn from mistakes of the past will be what dictates our fate.
On religion:
In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people
very angry, and is generally considered to have been a bad move.
One number for you people: 42 :mrgreen:.
One final note:
Arguing on the internet is like the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.
One final final note:
This seems to be my longest post ever...
